Radio is insulting Gaga

It's literally been released for 1 day. 1 day. Radio stations have only been playing it for 1 day. Let's not act like it's been out for weeks and radio is refusing to play it.

How many people do you know that actively request songs on radio?

Little to none, I'm sure.

It's because 99% of the people that request are fans, and radio is well aware of that.

Oh so radio knows we're just trying to get our fav played? That sucks tbh

But, there's an interplay between radio airplay and iTunes chart position. A lot of songs that are at the top of the iTunes chart might be there BECAUSE the radio plays them a lot.

Exactly. Birthday is in like the 900's on iTunes, but I guarantee that it's airplay will grow substantially first, which will then expose people to the song, and it sells more.

Among all the major music markets in the world, Australia's the biggest non-supporter of ARTPOP. The album didn't hit #1 and the past two singles didn't enter the top 10 of its official chart. Applause peaked at #11, while DWUW peaked at #21.

I hope their 'hate gaga' bandwagon falls of the cliff and damage them

If they're not going to take requests seriously, they shouldn't take them at all. Shut down all the request mechanisms. Stop pretending they're listening to us. To "take" requests, and then ignore them, is just cruel.

Yeah, some stations are cruel.

But you can't really blame them for not wanting to play a song in the 500's on iTunes.

Yup. Then radio was forced to play it as it was selling 100,000+ a week in the U.S and was in the Top 5 on iTunes.

Radio has no incentive to play G.U.Y unfortunately.

Since when radio cares about iTunes?

Since when radio cares about iTunes?

They do, but it isn't the only factor! Far from it!

Otherwise, several of Demi's and JT's song wouldn't have made it to the top 10. Tegan and Sara never did make it above 100 on iTunes, but they made it to the top 15 on Pop stations. Pop stations pushed Gorilla and Young Girls way past their iTunes positions. We Can't Stop should have been a #1 hit for a few weeks, but radio station were not going to let that happen.

Radio doesn't always play by the rules. There are hidden agendas and there is some "legal payola" involved.
