VISION 52
Lol this is true. But honestly, when she is behind the piano MY GOODNESS does the music shine. I love all the over the top stuff. Crazyga is the best. I just don't like it in the music, Hopefully the next or after the next album will be more piano-and-voice based. I am heavily into electronic music, but I want this to happen so that people will understand how talented Gaga is, and how she can do it in a classy way (kind of)
RileyMint 569
There is no such case. Electronic music is complex. In all songs you listen more things when you listen only the instrumentals but dance music is ususally more complex. Still take Bohemian Rhapsody for examplex it is very complex and diverse song and its still timeles. A timeless song is a song that creates emotions to people from different ages, not a simple song. Also finally all songs don't need to be timeless to be great, times change. Another Brick In The Wall is irrelevant today, today students abuse the teachers (). This doesn't stop ABITW from being a masterpice. DO not EVER compare anything on ARTPOP to Bohemian Rhapsody.... Again, music can be complex without being noisy. Also, you don't have to tell someone to wear headphones to appreciate the complexity of Bohemian Rhapsody.
VforVendetta 2,024
Lol this is true. But honestly, when she is behind the piano MY GOODNESS does the music shine. I love all the over the top stuff. Crazyga is the best. I just don't like it in the music, I agree. But ARTPOP feels very "pop" to me. When I say pop I mean generic sounding or "soulless", and it's because of the production. It feels too much like it is trying to follow a trend than just being genuine. Most songs on the album are very diffeent from what is on radio. Rock music was not half the diverse riverse that the popular music of today is, that didn't stop it from being legendary. Of course the age back then helped people right more meaningful music. Revolution was everywhere back then. You should appreciate that in the shallow age of today Gaga found the inspiration and wrote a song about ARTPOP, a concept she created herself. Most songs on album have amazing concepts. Take Applause for examole. It has an extremely simple instrumental and it captures the feeling of Applause perfectly. Gaga had captured in her song the music that she had on her mind about a finale of the show. This is the magic or real music. Applause is not a song about Applause because the lyrics say so, its because the music itself says so. DO not EVER compare anything on ARTPOP to Bohemian Rhapsody.... Again, music can be complex without being noisy. Also, you don't have to tell someone to wear headphones to appreciate the complexity of Bohemian Rhapsody.Bohemian Rhapsody is not electronic music. If you are not openminded to all genres of music you will never understand what I'm saying. Electronic music needs good speakers.
paganpoetry 155
You are talking about radio-friendliness. And I guess it is up to you, but music is not created without headphones. In order to get the full experience, you should use headphones to listen to every detail in a song. If you create music yourself, you'll see hoe genius and meticulous Gaga's production is, and how many layers there are. And I turn up ARTPOP very loud in my car with a great audio system and enjoy the music with my friend. This music is so fullfilling THIS I compose music and ARTPOP has many treats for people who are into music theory and song-making. :Legend: BJORK MELANIE HALSEY BEYONCE NICKI GAGA KERLI IIRIS IMOGEN TROYE SHINEE EXO F(X)
Guest
Born This Way is a hell of a lot nosier than ARTPOP imo.

VasilisVas 5,170
the lyrics on ARTPOP are by far the worst (not counting The Fame because most songs there are satire, meant to be shallow - exploring the superficial lifestyle of fame) this x a million tbh. I've been long over this era.
VISION 52
THIS I compose music and ARTPOP has many treats for people who are into music theory and song-making. I want to start to make electronic music so badly I've just learned about the tracks, layers, switches, etc.. I was just listening to instrumental version of MTN, and was dying inside again :nooo: This music inspires so much and makes want to compose music AND MOST IMPORTANT THING: Is there any more music like BTW album, where electronic meets rock? This marriage of music is just beyond description
djBuffoon 12,120
I don't agree. MANiCURE doesn't make sense. MJH, Donatella, Swine, Aura and Venus are all other the place lyrically. Sexxx Dreams is great. Most everything on the album is hard to relate to and noisy. She has so much talent that could be showcased if she stripped things down a bit, wrote more relatable lyrics and focused on the melody first. Okay. And I disagree on all counts. Lyrically and musically, ARTPOP has a lot of her most well-developed material. Unlike many songs from her previous albums, I can think of very little here that I would add or take away. I could tell that she was stretching herself as a songwriter even before she admitted so in subsequent interviews. Are the lyrics sometimes silly or abstract or outré or require a little time before they actually start to make sense? Absolutely. And I think that is precisely what she was going for. It doesn't always work (Donatella, for example), but overall I think this is her best work thus far.
Emvee 8,396
:usrs: yes I'm sure to Lady Gaga, songwriter of 10+ years and professional co-producer of about 6, everything on ARTPOP is completely random and is just pulled right out of her ass... She knows how to make a song, bro. The direction and concept behind a song is what changes. Yeah, maybe production does drives certain songs more. They're still songs. Quality songs to certain people. All music is quality. It just depends on your perspective for whether or not you can see it.
DMTT 160
The beats and production are harder, but I also personally think that her songwriting is the best it's ever been. That's an insult to TFM and some songs on BTW.... AP's lyrics are absolutely atrocious

tokyodisko 0
I entirely agree with the OP. They are not as crisp and vocal/lyrically focused as they should be. Polishing the music is great, but the vocals need to match. I also think her lyrics are really sloppy now- especially the verses in Aura and Donatella. FFXSoul91 1,098
It sounds like you're saying that Gaga's recent music is overproduced, which I will concur with. I'd like her to strip things back a bit in the future, especially for ballads.
