Too Much NOISE

I think many of the GP think that it is too much noise. USE HEADPHONES

The production is absolutely brilliant and sophisticated. Gaga's music is not your regular mainstream artist's music, much of which is bland

I listen to instrumentals just by themselves every day, and they never stop to amaze me. I haven't heard anything like that from other artists.

The heaviest production album was BTW, and in each song there are so many new layers and sounds. ARTPOP has awesome instrumentals as well. I appreciate the production so much

Exactly. The Fame made sense at least. I can't make sense of half the songs on ARTPOP. The lyrics are so random.

I'm pretty sure Gaga doesn't write lyrics randomly and for nothing/that doesn't make any sense. It's probably you/people who doesn't understand them.

I'm not dragging you it's true and it's completely acceptable seeing as how Gaga's lyrics are hard to figure out

I think you described what ive been trying to say since this album came out. Like Donatella for example, Gaga worked around the beat to make the song, not the other way around like she did with her previous albums.

The best instrumentals are those that you don't need headphones to appreciate. The best instrumentals are those that you can listen to out loud and enjoy with real live people at the same time...

I get that there's an almost hidden meaning to many of the songs. But to me, they're not even clever.

You are talking about radio-friendliness. And I guess it is up to you, but music is not created without headphones. In order to get the full experience, you should use headphones to listen to every detail in a song. If you create music yourself, you'll see hoe genius and meticulous Gaga's production is, and how many layers there are.

And I turn up ARTPOP very loud in my car with a great audio system and enjoy the music with my friend. This music is so fullfilling

Essence
MJH is the only loud song on the album. You can count Gypsy too if you want... But that's it.

I love orchestras. There are many that are complex and you hear something new every time, but it's never overbearing. You can appreciate them without headphones. That is quality music to me. I also listen to a lot of alt bands that use electronic sounds with real instruments and it sounds magical. Idk maybe I'm just not a huge electronic fan. To each their own.

And the electronic music is at its best with headphones :) (I listen to electronic 90% of time) I can't say that I'm making electronic music, but I'm starting, and Gaga's production is mindblowing and not minimalistic. All those layers and instruments may seem like noise, but if you break them apart, you'll hear the real quality of the electronic music

I guess the album lacks substance for me. Let me just say I typically hate pop music. I don't listen to the radio. My music library is mostly alt pop and alt rock. Gaga fascinates me, but it's not her music that does anymore, which used to be the case.

That's the problem though. There are too many layers. You can have a hundred instruments playing something that sounds beautiful by itself, but then sounds like uninspired noise when combined. I don't want to have to search for it, it should just be there. Such is the case with all timeless music.

It is just a matter of personal preference I think. Anyway, you know it is Gaga :emma: there is too much fashion, over-the-top videos and performances, and overly produced songs. Thart is why I love her :)

Btw, Poker Face sounds minimalistic, while Bad Romance sounds heavily produced

All Gaga'a albums are Pop though but they are very different. You can't really consider Pop music as one gerne. Gaga mixes many types of gernes and themes in her albums that make her music very unique (there are also classic pop 21 century influenced pop songs on her albums). I am not a fan of the commercial pop music of today but I find Gaga's music really genious. I don't like to put labels into music, good music is good music regardless of Pop, Rock, Jazz, Soul etc.

Lol this is true. But honestly, when she is behind the piano MY GOODNESS does the music shine. I love all the over the top stuff. Crazyga is the best. I just don't like it in the music,

I agree. But ARTPOP feels very "pop" to me. When I say pop I mean generic sounding or "soulless", and it's because of the production. It feels too much like it is trying to follow a trend than just being genuine.

There is no such case. Electronic music is complex. In all songs you listen more things when you listen only the instrumentals but dance music is ususally more complex. Still take Bohemian Rhapsody for examplex it is very complex and diverse song and its still timeles. A timeless song is a song that creates emotions to people from different ages, not a simple song. Also finally all songs don't need to be timeless to be great, times change. Another Brick In The Wall is irrelevant today, today students abuse the teachers (:flop:). This doesn't stop ABITW from being a masterpice.
