Mills 446
For the nth time, payola should never be confused with radio bias. The latter is a fact that happens everywhere, especially when business is involved. The former remains nothing but an accusation until actually proven with tangible evidence aside from the usual conspiracy theories online. Payola implies someone has to illegally pay for them to be played. Bias occurs when one is unfairly being overplayed compared to others. There's clearly bias on radio over those who have garnered hits after hits in a consistent basis. That's indisputable. 'Payola', however, isn't. Mirko95 6
No confirmed date yet. But I cannot imagine her not releasing the lead single by next week at the earliest. She also has an interview on the 19th w/ GMA. And then the performance at the VMAs on the 24th. Her televised appearances lined up just hint the new single should be up really soon. If not a digital release, most likely a service to radio then. __________ Also, as a general reminder, please do the tracking / chart discussion of Gaga in her chart thread. So, what we know for sure is that the single will be released within the 24 of August as she's performing at the VMAs :D

Yanko 9,860
Why are ppl fond of calling song basic just bc it's catchy and radio-friendly, how close-minded is that? But when their fave do mainstream songs, they are acting like it's the 2nd coming of Jesus, how hypocrite is that? IF MY FAV does a basic song i call that song basic cause it is basic a question: how much did roar sell in usa in it's second week?

Mills 446
a question: how much did roar sell in usa in it's second week? In its 2nd full week, it sold 392k (after a 557k debut). If you're more interested, here are her sales for the next three weeks: 3rd: 448k (hits #1 on HOT 100) 4th: 373k (still #1) 5th: 331k (drops to #2 thanks to Wrecking Ball)
Mariano 958
1. Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass - 1.0000 2. Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang - 0.4803 6. Clean Bandit - Rather Be - 0.3446 Waiting for the gap between AATB and BB to become bigger. The more this song gets talked about in the mainstream, the more it should explode. Rather Be back at its iTunes peak. Once the hype over Ariana dies down, I'm hoping this worldwide smash at least peak within the top 3 on the HOT 100. It's 2014's Get Lucky for me. the best thing is that AATB is just starting.. I mean wait for it to cross 100M views and 100M Ai ... by that time it'd be HUGE. Let alone that it will probably get close to 200M AI It's at 40M AI Overall + 20M views on youtube and its smashing like cray cray For the nth time, payola should never be confused with radio bias. I mean if it was payola I would be fine, because It means Capitol pays radios to play katy songs and they eventually will have to stop cuz it's not returning, but it is clearly BIAS. Which is worrying me and annoying me so much... Like when will they stop overplaying her songs ? OK DH and Roar clearly smashed on digital (although they were also radio driven at first) but the other singles didn't deserve half of the airplay they got. Anything less than that once the year's down would honestly be disappointing. Cannot wait to see how many countries it would end up topping. It's already slaying in Oceania, topping both Australia and NZ. Her career needs to skyrocket.

It's already slaying in Oceania, topping both Australia and NZ. Her career needs to skyrocket. I like her, but I really can't imagine her being successful like Lorde, but considering Troy Carter is managing her currently, I won't be surprised... I just hope she delivers. She is an Adele/Britney hybrid And yes if the song doesn't top 5M this year I'd be dissapointed in the music market :( I guess 2012 really was the peak... 2 or 3 6M (2 of them 7) selling singles right ? It was really weird how 2009 had a lot 6M singles and then 2012 ..
