Jazz is among the easiest ways to gain the favour of critics. It's a classic genre, and classic rarely disappoints, especially when it comes to the type of commercial success it may get. The ones who'll cast the first stone once the first-week album sales of C2C must realize that jazz is probably the least-selling genre out there. The highest-selling jazz album, if I'm not mistaken, has reported sales of less than 5 million worldwide. And it was released in 1959 by Miles Davis, possibly the most successful jazz artist in history. Those critics better not drag the sales of C2C. Otherwise, they'll just come off as completely ignorant.

If the info I got from the Internet is right, there's only like 8 (?) platinum jazz albums in history and about 20 other gold certified ones, so anything above 500k for C2C would be phenomenal in this day and age.

 

Also  :eek: @ that Miles Davis album. It took it 40 years to sell 1m copies then sold 3m extra copies from 1997 to 2008. The longevity

The songs from the last 8-9 months spending over 20 weeks in the top 20:

20* - "Happy"

 

"Happy" will get at least 1, maybe 2 more weeks, "All Of Me" can get 4, 5 or even 6 additional weeks.

I will be satisfied if the Applause wins award in some less important category. I think it has a chance. Last year Mirror wins over Thrift Shop, and Rihanna didn't win nothing, so commercial success is not in the first plan + Gaga performed Applause last year.
