Bye 3,947
This era, probably, but not her as an artist. The latest worldwide hits of Britney Spears, Xtina, Ke$ha were all singles they were merely featured on. As I've said in the past, if we're here for an easy route for a hit, collaborations with the "cool" artists are the way to go. The only stumbling block to this is the extreme unlikelihood of Gaga ever doing this. I mean, a single not created / produced by her inner circle. But what about coming back with a single that's their own and being successful with it? Why would we care that Gaga gets success as a featured artist when it's isn't her music of which we are fans? I moved this to the random thread because it's more appropriate :)
Bye 3,947
No Gaga is not over of course x) All artists have their underperforming album and they are not over (Madonna, Rihanna, Beyoncé...) Concerning G.U.Y : she needs a big performance like MTV Movie Awards The MTV awards would have been great. Eminem and Rihanna are getting so much hype I've even read about it and heard about it on radio here in my country :deadbanana:

I moved this to the random thread because it's more appropriate :) Then the better it'd be. I too prefer singles of her as a lead act. But if she has to settle as a featured artist like the ones I've mentioned, I wouldn't mind it either - as long as it's a worldwide chart-topping smash. Being a featured artist on a smash single could introduce her to a wider market, or at least helped her brand to become "hot" again like it used to be back in 2009/2010. Re-invention is the key to survival. And if it means collaborating with people she has never worked with before, such as Calvin Harris or even Dr. Luke (as infamous as he may seems within this fanbase), then so be it. I'm just a firm believer that working with the "machine" (the industry's who's who) doesn't tarnish one's legacy.

That's my main problem though, Xtina, Britney and Kesha haven't yet proved that after their success as featured artist they can come back successfully as lead artists... Continually being featured artists is not something to really hope for :(
VforVendetta 2,024
Its gonna sound predictable and basic but as I said before the release of the single, GUY is not a good single choice. The song doesn't have the thing that will make the difference, in my opinion its one of the least impressive songs on the album. The times that a good dance song with a good video would do always well on the charts is over and GUY is old news in my opinion. The album had much much better single choices with much more potential and fresh sound like Sexxx Dreams or Venus or sure hits like Gypsy and Dope. Even Aura was a better choice in my opinion even if it was a much bigger risk. Its obvious that Gaga is having commercial issues this era because of this whole mess. Don't forget that this mess began though because of continuous mistakes like this that maybe seem small as seperate but all together they can destroy an entire era. I had this opinion before the release of GUY, after the amazing video and I will have it even if GUY becomes a hit. No GUY is not a good single choice and all the people here that reminded them of a hit is because the song could have been a hit like 1-2 years ago, now its outdated. To choose a good single you need to predict the sound that will be popular next not to choose a song that follows the outdated trends. Even if GUY does well it won't make the difference as a song. Anyway at this moment if GUY flops Gaga needs to release Gypsy, she has nothing to lose and move on with the tour. I still have hope that GUY can become a hit though. The song is really catchy and addictive. Sure, I would have prefer to see Gypsy as a single, but GUY with the video is packed to rule the world. It just need some inicial support that for some reason it doesnt get.

Continually being featured artists is not something to really hope for :( True. While it may introduce one to a wider market, it isn't a guarantee that those new audience will root for her, as shown in the case of Britney. I guess I'm just biased towards the idea of an easy way to get chart-topping hits, considering she hasn't gotten one in the UK since her debut studio album or it's been three years already since she topped the HOT 100 and the Australian charts. Still hoping she'd do it soon.

An catchy song by itself isn't why Gaga is famous. She had singles like this before but dance music was on top of the world (and Gaga made the trend). Now a dance song needs to have something more to become a hit, it needs to be something new and daring and GUY in not in my opinion. Dance songs like Aura, Sexxx Dreams and Venus are, GUY is not. I've always complained about the boring chorus and how it gets nowhere. For the first day I even preferred Applause music video the GUY because the song holds it back. Then I loved the video more because of ARTPOP and Venus, now I'm back to Applause being my favourite Gaga video. GUY is really not to my taste. GagaStan95 10,478
If this song continues to drop and will be out the top 1500... I guess nothing can save it even with a tv performance. Even radios won't play it. I doubt Interscope knows how to use payola. This is a clear example of a Schopenhauer's pessimism
