You really don't think the straight fans are isolated in this community? Just like the gay community, I have been a fan of hers since 2008 so now we've pretty much been the outcasts for some time now. I don't mind it and I'm not "weirded out", but she has labeled herself as a gay icon. I'm not asking her to say "thanks for my few straight fans", but she has been very in our face about it at times, especially the first few times I've seen her. She's been more relaxed about the topic recently.

This.

How many artists have said in the past "my music is black" or "I am black inside"??? Amy Winehouse said that "I am a black boy trapped inside a white womans body." Nobody had anything to say back then.

Even I, as a soul singer sometimes I say that I feel I sing 'black' music. Culturally It is the same thing as saying 'gay music'

People, if you just stop for a moment and think politically, you will get it.

Gaga is a 3rd wave feminist (aka Queer Theory). She believes that the 'standart' status quo is not neutral, but straight, so in order to rebel against these structures, we must find an identity/political weapon so that we can crash it.

Y'all are just worrying about the charts subconsciously. Let your homophobia go away, you remind me of black people wanting to get rid of their heritage and act white.

I, Alex C, I am also a black woman trapped inside a white boy's body. I state it, I sing it, I tell it everywhere.

P.S. People are taking their lives because of these reactionary opinions and behaviours, please don't let this homophobic thing go on in GGD.

If any one as a straight ( and speaking as a straight myself) is offended by Gaga's gay activism or what she said all those years ago, then you have your own self-esteem issues to worry about.  As straight Gaga fans we need to support her gay activism, it's part of her.  If you have problems with being associated with that community or are embarrassed to admit being a Gaga fan because of it then you need to look inside yourself and figure out why that bothers you so much.

She's saying if you have anything against the idea of being gay, then she doesn't want you as a fan. If you're going to support Lady Gaga and her music, you better support the gay community.

Kinda harsh but she's showing her dedication.

Poor you feeling alienated from a pop star for exactly the length of time it took you to read that. You have no idea what real alienation is like. She was saying this because people thought her music was "too gay" - her point was that being gay wasn't a bad thing. Nobody ever talks about "straight music" being bad. You just don't know what it's like, period, and I definitely don't sympathize with your so-called "straight alienation." We should all be so alienated.

I'm straight, and while this doesn't bother me because I know what she's trying to say, and despite you not caring the truth is things like this could very well alienate her straight fans. It doesn't matter that gay people have a harder time being accepted, everybody is equal and nobody likes being alienated no matter what the percentage is. Some people could very well take this the wrong way and think Gaga is saying she only has or wants gay fans. I know that's not what she means, but some might not. She means well, but there are a lot of straight people that will read quotes like this and get angry and possibly start bashing gay people. I don't think it's a good idea at all to center out any group over another. I guess what I'm trying to say is that she just needs to be careful with how she words things.

Shes not using the word gay as in homos-xual, shes using it as in gay culture, which is very different, i thought that was clear from the "i am gay, my show is gay" part, shes not homos-xual and its physically impossible for her show to be homos-xual, shes not alienating any fans, you can be straight and part of gay culture
