It has some great lyrics, but I'll stay with my opinion, compared to BTW the lyrics left me disappointed :flop:

I still love "I wanna be the grave and earth you." :flutter:

But my FAVORITE line EVER is:

"A hybrid can withstand these things,"

:worship:

(However, one of my favorite VERSES ever comes from Born This Way's Bloody Mary:

"We are not just art for Michelangelo to carve,

he can't rewrite the agro of my furied heart.

I wait on mountaintops in Paris cold,

J'veux pas mourir toute seule (I don't want to die alone)"

^ That verse gives me chills.

I think G.U.Y is more clever than that. The G.I.R.L line just seems like she was trying a bit hard to make it stand for something that makes sense and it isn't as seamless as the title line is.

This has been my opinion too. The line is somewhat nonsensical and stupid. but at least it's catchy I suppose. :laughga:

I'm sorry, but that was like the most obvious thing ever.

And this. This is surprising especially for a non-native English speaker like me :laughga:

Now that I'm looking at the comments I just f-ing got it  I'm such a fool

But omg... You for real?

This isn't as cool as I thought it was :noparty:

At first when I didn't get it I just thought it was meant that Gaga would be like in control and stuff and the dude would be like the s-xist thoughts people associate with girls like constantly wearing make up and being the mans slave and s-xist degrading stuff like that. I thought it was like "G-I-R-L" spelling it out because that's not what a girl actually is. A girl. Not some makeup obssed slave. So I thought she was spelling girl to show that's not what it actually is with girls. It's just girl. Like a normal human. Said like a normal thing.

Now that I think about it... Gaga's makes more sense but now it just seems forced like she was trying to do the acronym thing everywhere and idk just not the saving grace lyric of ARTPOP. :noparty:

I thought the "makeup" line refers to the guy and the girl wearing each others' assumed s-xual roles. The assumption is that the guy is in control, but a lot of girls and bottoms will tell you the girl / bottom is definitely in control -- he can't get off without the other person there -- so, he or she is the G.U.Y. because they have the power to "leave you." The G.I.R.L. wears girl makeup, and the G.U.Y. wears guy makeup, but it's not really makeup at all.

For me it ties into the "paint her face and paint your face" lyric in Swine (which I think has a third and way scarier meaning... Swine is the most brilliant song she ever did, Tee Bee H).

That said, I cringe a little when I hear "Guy I'm romancin', loves..." It's too effortful to be playful, and doesn't really roll off the tongue.
