Mills 446
What is it about G.U.Y that the GP Don't like? It's my fave song on the album... Most likely its lyrical content, which is somehow s-xually aggressive, and its arguably dated production. But these aren't the major hindrances on why G.U.Y. is Gaga's worst performing single to date. With little airplay on radio (and little to zero promotion), it's impossible for this single to get support from the casual mainstream music fans. Not to mention, this single got released after almost three months of blackout (from January to early March 2014), making its chances of becoming a hit a lot slimmer. Whispering 18,865
What is it about G.U.Y that the GP Don't like? It's my fave song on the album... The GP really hasn't heard G.U.Y. Not enough of them and not at times when the majority are...you know...awake! :) G.U.Y. wasn't my first, second or even third choice for a third single, but there is no reason radio couldn't have pushed it to at least 10 million AI on Pop, and given it a SMALL fighting chance. There simply aren't enough people hearing a song until it gets to 10 million AI for a couple of weeks, to make a significant move or to make a determination on if the GP really liked it or not. Basically, due to the shiity radio support, we will never really know if the GP would have cared for the song or not.

Mills 446
The reception DWUW got as a second single after being pushed so much, sans a music video release, could serve as an indicator on the possible reception the third single should get from the casual mainstream music fans - assuming a decent radio support is given. If not, then there's the current album sales of ARTPOP. Poor interest, relatively compared to her previous works AND the current material of her contemporaries, is highly noticeable. Whispering 18,865
your to smart for me, I'm lost on this They are trying to say that the GP isn't interested in Gaga anymore, but that simply isn't true! ARTPOP opened at number one during the most competitive month of the year. The album produced two top 10 pop hits, one double platinum (and still growing) and one platinum. The album was in the top 10 selling albums worldwide for 2013 and Gaga's tour will place her in the top 10 tours in 2014. She might be having a less successful era than her massively successful, record setting previous two eras, but it is still successful enough to give her the accomplishments (and more) listed above. Gaga said it best at SXSW, when she stated that she was held to such insanely high standards and expectations!

Mills 446
your to smart for me, I'm lost on this The fate of G.U.Y. (or whatever the third single may be) could be pre-determined by the performance of its predecessors (DWUW, Applause, and ARTPOP itself). Though it shouldn't be treated 100% in absolute terms, it gives us at least a picture on what might happen or not. For example, we can make predictions on the outcome of an election through the results of a survey because it measures the level of interest among the electorate. In this case, I see the past singles or the album sales of ARTPOP as the "measure" of interest over Gaga, and that might explain the current state of the single we have, which is G.U.Y. They are trying to say that the GP isn't interested in Gaga anymore, but that simply isn't true! True. But so did the other huge pop stars before her like Britney Spears and Michael Jackson among others. They were criticized and called out for the downturn of their careers. And why so? Because media only report on what actually happens, regardless of how favourable or unfavourable it might be for the celebrities. Public interest over them always goes down anyway. Nowhere did I mention that the public isn't interested in Gaga. It just so happened that we cannot deny that interest over her is poor, as reflected by the sales. And there's nothing wrong about it. It's simply inevitable, as shown by the careers of almost every public figure. If DWUW had a video it would have definitely topped x2 plat in the US and 4M WW. I see many mistakes from management, wrong choices and negativity from the media nothing more, nothing less. Probably. I'm just convinced that the MV release will only allow DWUW to peak within the top 10 of the HOT 100, but not significantly boost its sales in the long run. US: ARTPOP #91 And the tour has just began. Expecting more rises within the coming weeks.
