This.

A song being on PR on Z100, KIIS is enough to be a hit and obviously if a song is on PR on one of these, it will be also played on a lot other stations.

It's good that the song is getting these updates without Z100 and KIIS support, reminds me of DWUW in the beginning.

Thank you

I cant at you guys not remembering/knowing this stuff..

KAMP is almost as big as KIIS.

KIIS didnt put Applause on PR till late October

DWUW had instant support from KIIS

Be happy we're getting KAMP and WKTU support, the #3 and #4 stations in the US. Like Rarigoes mentioned countless times before: these stations will be among the last to pick the song up, because GUY will need top 40 itunes placement first.

For a top 40 position, GUY will need small stations support first.

So let's focus on the big picture. Z100 and KIIS have shown to not have any bias against Gaga before, so they will play it when they notice the song.

Mess tbh, it doesn't matter if KIIS took long to play Applause because Z100 was supporting it at the time, just like KIIS supported DWUW while Z100 wasn't.

Edit: I agree on your last point

this can only happen with a brand new song.

And btw Gaga's team and her, should really try to find one really great song and release it as a lead single (for ACT2 or the next album) ... Lead single is really important and it's enough to push a whole era - We Found Love comes to mind.  It's not that hard to chose the best song out of 10-20 songs  Or at least the song that is the most single worthy ... I mean all Rihanna does with her last few albums is release a great Lead single and the other songs on the album (most of them) are just mediocre ...

The single released near the album releaseis the most important for sales tbh.

The best possible thing is to have:

First single: very catchy pop song, suits Pop, HAC (and Rhythmic) radio

Second single: catchy mature pop songs, suits Pop, HAC, AC radio

Third single: doesn't really matter

Fourth single: doesn't really matter

All Gaga needs is to weite something catchy. That's all that's necessary. None of the ARTPOP songs are even close to Roar's catchiness. How to makeasong catchy?

- simplicity (structure- and musically-wise, ARTPOP is simple enough. The lyrics should be more understandable though..)

- strong emotions attached to them, preferably happiness when it's an upbeat song

- a hook

That's all that's needed  Gaga's so good when it comes to catchy pop tunes, but why didn't she with this album :toofunny:

With the radio update it is clear why G.U.Y. was rising at one point yesterday, and since it's increasing now it must be getting another bunch of spins today.

FFS it just needs to jump inside the Itunes top 200 so that everybody stops melting down!

The radio update is healthy!

i think Applause is her catchiest and most radio friendly single (production wise) tbh

I don't. 'I live for the applaus' is amazing but I had the ohohohs of BR stuck inside my head for like 6 months

I don't think Gaga should try to fit all these (neither of em actually).. She has never tried to make a catchy song.  She just either works with hit producers (like Fernando, Red One) or producers that she wants to experiment with (Zedd, Madeon) and she will always work with DJWS because she feels better to work with him.. (If one of my best friends was my producer, I would feel really comfortable in the studio)..

The point is that she sometimes make these amazingly catchy songs (like Bad Romance, Born This Way, TEOG even You and I etc..)  but they make bad choices   And yeah she can just work with a hit producer (for the lead single) and she can do her own thing in the studio, while the producer's job will be to make the song Catchy and a hit..  THis way everyone wins. . .  I can't really picture Gaga writing a song with the thoughts of it being a hit..  It's not in her nature at all ..

A good pop song is a catchy one. Don't you see how much catchier TF/TFM material is? I'm sure she made these songs catchy on purpose to make hits. It's not the producer's job to make something catchy, but the writer's. And remember, 'every song on ARTPOP was designed to be a hit'.

My point is that she wasn't trying.  She is writing what she wants. It's just different ways.. Sometimes she is writing it on her piano (her best songs are written this way  Brown Eyes, Speechless, The Edge of Glory, You and I)  sometimes her producer shows her a beat or part of an instrumental, sometimes she writes a song and then the producer makes it a hit (all red one songs are written by Gaga on her piano, but without the flawless production they wouldn't have been hits) ..

She said that All songs on ARTPOP are radio friendly.  She never said they were designed to be hits because this is just stupid.. they are not
