Exactly! Music boards will tell you to not even expect to see a radio spin to iTunes affect until a new song gets to, at the MINIMUM, 10 million A.I. This would especially be true for singles that come later on in an album's era.

To make a somewhat long term prediction, a single really needs to be closer to the 20 million mark.

There simply aren't enough radio listeners, who have heard G.U.Y. enough times, to base a conclusion on at this time.

Exactly. And 5M AI is for the entire 7 days... Only 700K people are hearing the song each day. That's nothing!

I'll try to explain this again... People freaking out about the song seriously need to calm down.

Before someone jumps down my throat about this, I'm NOT pitting Katy and Gaga against eachother. My point is that they have basically the same radio airplay and G.U.Y is basically no longer getting a boost from the video. It's getting what... Maybe 500K views a week from the US? That's nothing and a big amount of those are fans rewatching the video anyway. Katy's songs seem to always do well and even Unconditionally went top 15, so it's a good bet that Birthday will too. If we use Birthday as a way to guage how well G.U.Y is doing then you can see it's doing just fine with its measly airplay.

It's not getting a boost from the video because it already did. Now it's stable basically because of the video   So the comparison between Birthday and G.U.Y. is just unacceptable..  at least in my opinion (of expertise ) ..

Well let's see, on Saturday G.U.Y. had 4.398 AI and was around #340 on iTunes.

On Sunday, it had 4.726 AI and rose to #301 on iTunes..

 

A difference of 40 spots and about a .5? percentage (Can someone confirm this for me?) difference. A difference of .3 AI caused it to rise .5%

 

G.U.Y. needs to sell about 6.1% of the #1 song to get into the Top 100.

 

Assuming .6 AI would cause it to rise 1%, multiply .6x5 and you get 3.0 AI. 

 

4.7+3= about 8 million AI

 

Keeping in mind there's a lot of room for error, G.U.Y. would need at least 8-10 million AI Overall in order to enter the Top 100. Which is a good outlook if you ask me.

And how exactly do you explain it's stable because of the video? Because it's getting 500K US views a week even though many of those are from fans? It makes no sense.

5 million people hearing the song each week.

I'm comparing them for very good reasons. It has nothing to do with creating a war between the two girls. People need to stop with this music video thing as the reason why it's so much higher. It's not even true anymore.
