Birthday is just 5 places higher than GUY and it has so much airplay. :toofunny:

BD was at #32 last week...one spot higher than G.U.Y. is this week, with 7 times the AI and inside the top 15.

Honestly, this underperformance is a necessary stage in Gaga's career and there are many factors that play into it. Many others have survived lower performing eras and come back very strong, a little wiser, and with a more defined sense of the type of artist that they want to be.

I wouldn't call G.U.Y. breaking her top 30 streak as something necessary since that'd imply they didn't have any opportunity or even an option to keep that streak going, a streak she once shared with Katy Perry. They had all the time in the world by the start of January to prepare for the follow-up of DWUW, but they opted to wait as late as March. And by the time it was released, barely any promotion was given to strengthen the awareness about the new Gaga single. Yeah, scoring complete chart failures are inevitable, but they're avoidable for a relatively new pop star who just came to the scene six years ago or so. If there's one thing which they've failed, it isn't G.U.Y. going nowhere, it's the failure to maximize the opportunity they had to keep an extra-ordinary HOT 100 top 30 streak.

Completely agree. I can't believe they really thought they could just release a video and the song would be able to sustain itself for a couple months while they sit back and do absolutely nothing. I have a hard time thinking they didn't think this could happen... I mean most people in this thread have enough common sense to know that promo plan would never work.

Well, we all know that her marketing team nowadays are messy.

No offense to Gaga and her team, but GUY deserves to perform how it has. They never seem to learn anything, but I'm hoping this time it actually hits them. You can't just assume a song can ride solely on airplay and do nothing, especially when Gaga has been struggling to gain support this era.

Yes, that clearly would work, but that is asking for WAY too much. That would never happen in a million years :smh: It would be a struggle for her to do even a 3rd of those items nowadays. Funny because her promo schedules BTW and prior used to look like that.

Haha, yeah little managers indeed. :hehe:

Anyway, I just hope Gaga's management won't become like Brit's. :awkney:

EXACTLY  :toofunny: songs aren't gonna become hits based on gaga's name alone anymore.  They need to work for it.  I've given up on this era but for the next album they better get their marketing and promo sh*t on point  :awkney:
