Solar 604 Posted April 4, 2014 Share Posted April 4, 2014 The song hasn't even started to take off ..... a sleeper hit would mean a song completely ditched for months and months and then all of a sudden smash just like Ellie's Lights in the US few years back or Gaga's Just Dance when it peaked almost year after it's release. Post album singles usually take longer time to start picking and even more if that's Gaga single in month from now we could be able to say whether the song is flop or not but right now we could only support it and nothing more it's the radio and GP that will define GUY's success from now on. Thats exactly what i meant! I think is going to be hard to take off quickly after this tuesday, but not be forgotten. It will slowly rise and maybe be top 20 in a month or so. I knew before it even happened that she'd get no boost. They don't buy music. Idol, MTV Movie, even GMA are more impactful. Letterman has never really been a good platform for new music and it's just gotten worse over the years. Gaga's performance was still promo and promo is cumulative, to a certain extent. My guess is that they thought it would be a fun, cool thing to do, since the Roseland is directly across the street from Letterman. Since Gaga has never performed on his show, and Letterman is retiring after 32 years in New York, I'm glad this worked out! It was a nice moment in time and was something specific to NYC, for two proud New Yorkers! Idol isn't having big names on their show at this time. This season they are "introducing new artists", outside of bringing back old contestants and the judges that will get a spot or two. Maybe for the finale? The director talk doesn't belong in this thread- it is Off Topic, and you have already pushed and discussed that subject in other threads. That's your personal opinion on the song. We will see what happens, once it has enough airplay, for long enough, to reach a wide audience. It's impossible to call at this point. No, they really don't. I've followed enough artists to know that the Letterman bump is tiny! Well let's just hope you're right. Actually, although I sound critical a lot, I really want her to succeed and keep beating the odds. But the recent creative output has left me cold. It may be that I am just not good enough of a fan, it's possible. However, in my field, I tend to be highly critical even of the artists I love, maybe because I am too close to be objective.
