I will never understand why this fanbase is so full of hate and criticism

JUST LET HER DO HER OWN F***ING THING

Stop with the art arguements. Everything is art and nothing at all is art. It's as simple as 2 things - 1) the person presenting it 2) the audience receiving it. If those two factors vibe off of eachother and appreciate the other's existence, then that's all that matters.

Call it art or call it Starlight bull****ting for 20 minutes. Either way she is doing what she loves and hoping you all can reciprocate some love back.

Sheesh.

well we now know that it obviously can be made into art but that isn't related to the topic but if you want to look up bodily fluids made into art look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_fluids_in_art

No I just mean if I go to the toilet and just take a crap I could say it's art. Then we could basically say anything is art. Like... me typing this message to you now is art. Me getting the bus is art. Me taking a shower is art. The whole argument of what is art and what isn't is annoying and stupid to me and I dislike the notion that something being 'art' automatically makes it good. It's just what the medium is. It's like saying only good songs can be considered 'music' .. not really

Something that would consider being 'Art' involves a skill of some kind, like you can have an art in cooking, an art in music, an art in making and fixing cars etc. Those things you mention have no skill involved and doing things that do have skill involved aren't something good? no, not only good songs can be considered 'music', of course not but making music also have skills involved, whether it's playing an instrument or just singing or tapping your fingers to make a beat, it's a skill.

Ehh I believe art is meant to be an expression of sorts, something creative. Therefore I wouldn't really call fixing a car and art. Nor would I call what Lady Starlight does artistic because it doesn't fulfil my definition of art, and it doesn't fulfil yours either because it doesn't really require any skill.

Performance art is has skill involved and that's what Lady Starlight does, she's performing which is a skill

I know, but from what I've seen she basically just dances around on stage to music occasionally putting on different clothes/accessories and making poses etc. Am I right? To me there's not much skill involved, anyone could do it.

I don't want it to seem like I'm putting her down cos I like her but I wish she would just DJ and not do a show like the BTWB performance again.

refering back to your perception of art, yes being creative is part of art but how do you know that what Lady Starlight does isn't creative, quick change with clothes and the dance aspect is creative, is a skill and requires practise to do those sorts of things. Its just the same as the quick change during Applause at the VMA's, it's exactly the same but two different people. it's like you saying because Gaga did it, it's art and because Starlight did its not so yes in a way you are putting her down.

You're telling me now that changing your outfit is an art form? Really? If that's the pinnacle of Lady Starlight's artistry then count me out. I don't think Gaga changing clothes is an art form either, Gaga's quick changes in the VMA performance were supposed to represent her journey. It's about the expression. I don't think Starlight is being creative or expressing anything, she's just having a bit of a laugh tbh. And that's cool, I just don't wanna see it when I've paid a load of money for a ticket.

But there is creativity because it require time, effort and practise. The expression is being herself which IS she likes to joke and have a laugh but i'm sure there's an even deeper meaning than what you think the meaning actually is. If Gaga didn't understand what the meaning and the art behind the performance that Starlight did, do you think she'd let her perform in front of those people? There is a message there that Gaga wanted to put out on the stage, the meanings aren't always easy to guess but its there. That is why there were some people that did like that performance she did and I know people who loved it. Maybe you are just not seeing the meaning behind the performance.

To me the meaning is expressing herself through performance art but there could be an even deeper meaning than that, notice how all her performances are always a different song, different outfit, a different pose. do you think if Starlight wasn't creative and nobody understood what she does do you think she'd open concerts for Judas Priest and she get paid to do those exact performances for other rock bands?
