pink sushi 4,351
Some of this stuff lately has been bothering me too. I try not to look to much into it though. I'm sure she is all for equality between men and women. And besides.....Marina is like one of THE biggest feminists out there. So we always have her.... LaLuna 12,732
I'm not sure I understand Gaga's logic. I know that being the boss at work can be exhausting, but that doesn't mean you should let your partner make all the decisions for you when you're at home. I'm sure she didn't mean that she lets Taylor boss her around, but being a relationship is a team effort, it's not about giving your significant other all the power. I don't think anyone should be "in charge" in a relationship anyway. Relationships aren't about submissiveness or dominance, relationships are supposed to be two equal people making decisions together, growing together and respecting each other. Wisdomless1 281
The thing is though, a man shouldn't be telling a woman what to do either, and she didn't say that was okay. Is it really appropriate to treat any person you're in a relationship with like they are to take orders? You're equal in a relationship, you don't get told what to do, you get asked favors, but you should be genuinely wanting to help each other.

Whispering 18,865
On top of that, now I hear that she said in a recent interview: “He’s totally in charge. I mean, when I am home, I am like, shoes are off, I’m making him dinner. He has a job, too, and he is really busy! I’m in charge all day long, the last thing I want to do is tell him what to do. It’s not good for relationships to tell men what to do.†You left out a part: "...the last thing I want to do is tell him what to do...We are just really good friends..." Miel 15,009
You left out a part: "...the last thing I want to do is tell him what to do...We are just really good friends..." I guess that brings in the context that it's an equal relationship. 3 points in and ready for more
Whispering 18,865
I guess that brings in the context that it's an equal relationship. Also, later in the interview, when not talking about her romantic relationship: "I like to cook and take care of people." Cooking and taking care of your significant other =/= anti-feminism My impression is that Gaga does this for people she loves...for people who love her...for equal relationships built on mutual respect. HeAteMyHeart 2
I guess I don't understand the big deal... I'm in charge all day at work as well and am completely submissive in a relationship because of it... and I love it.
MonsterOfSpain 8,318
What are the official lyrics? The ones that I bolded in correction are what I hear instead. Not that it'd make any difference, but still. "I wanna be the grave unearth you Our s-x doesn't tell us no lies" Also, later in the interview, when not talking about her romantic relationship: "I like to cook and take care of people." Cooking and taking care of your significant other =/= anti-feminism My impression is that Gaga does this for people she loves...for people who love her...for equal relationships built on mutual respect. Of course you can take care of your significant other, but that isn't the same as the significant other being "in charge." For whatever reason, people think I'm much more upset about this than I really am. haha. Gaga seems super happy, cooking dinner for your hubby is a very nice thing to do (and I do it frequently!) The "in charge" statement just struck me funny, that's all. The only people that know what their relationship is like is Taylor and Gaga. So long as it works for them, I'm happy! I think I'm just reading too much into her statements. I love Gaga, but she is no feminist scholar. haha. And that's fine!
