I hate the idea of feminists. She's just a woman that has a way of thinking. She's not telling woman to be bottoms. She probs doesn't care what other woman think/do with their s-x lives She does promote equality tho. I thinks she's more just "Do whatever the **** you want" for any gender.

A woman doesn't necessarily have to be in charge of a relationship and 'the boss' or whatever to believe in equality for women. Some feminists seem to have that view that you're weak or less of a woman if you enjoy being the submissive partner rather than dominating the relationship, and that's kind of a silly way to think of things. Isn't that what G.U.Y. is about? Being in charge without being the dominating partner? 

 

The quote from the interview wasn't flattering, though. Not sure if she was playing around or actually telling women that they should have relationships like hers, but…

i mean i get it,but for me, its like finding out hannah montana is miley cyrus, or Santa claus is not real (couldn't find a better comparison) like, i never , NEVER thought of her as a submissive girl.

I think she is submissive when she trusts a person a lot. Like she lets herself be submissive and enjoys it when being with the right person. If she doubts or does not trust she controls the situation. She's smart enough to know how to behave with different people.

Sorry it bothers you, but it's how I feel I also hate the idea of "gays" and "straights" and "bi" and so forth, so forth. I think our society has a disgusting way of labelling everything, and feminists I find can be quite backward thinking, in that they want everything for woman, but that involves rising above men, which is not equality at all!  Not all feminists are like that, but that's why I don't think "being a feminist" should be a thing.  I think that it should just be a person who thinks that equality for people is right. Just like I'd rather not be classified as "gay" or "bi," but rather as someone who just is attracted to different people.

In short, I just think equality is what's important, not being "pro woman."

The word feminism groups people into being victims. No one is a victim. We are all autonomous. TRUE feminism only believes in equality, not the bs of women are superior to men. Everyone is equal. But I don't see a purpose for the word, just like I don't see a purpose of the words gay rights, racial equality, gender equality, etc. ITS JUST EQUALITY.

I get what you're saying to some extent, but still, just because a few people have manipulated the concept, it shouldn't make it a shameful concept. The idea of feminism IS equality. Men are above women, and by being "pro-women", it seeks to equalize the statuses of men and women.

it's not being a victim if they fight back against the oppressors, which is the point of gay rights, gender equality, etc.

 

also, if anyone claiming they're a feminist tells you that "women need to be superior to men" they are not a feminist (we call them fauxminists )

Equality is a great ideal, but it's not an easily managed concept. So it's been divided so it can more easily be approached. And it also came in different stages. To demonize any because they aren't totalitarian is silly.

I don't see contradiction, I see evolution. Her early comments ("I'm not a feminist, I love men!") were IMHO ignorant (sorry Gaga), but I think she's learned a lot since then. I don't think she'd ever say that now.

But, I think what matters more than what she says, is what she does, and how she's perceived. Does anyone see Gaga as anything other than a strong (too strong, for some people) woman? Does anyone really believe that she lets anyone, including Taylor, tell her what to do, in any meaningful way? When you think of her generation of female pop stars, who's the last one you'd think of as a doormat? Isn't it Gaga? She pretty much embodies strength, independence, and freedom.
