A budget doesn't always limit the quality of one's work. Some of Gaga's most notorious videos, such as Poker Face and Bad Romance, were both filmed on a relatively lower budget than some of her other works and they are the most remembered. Also, a high budget doesn't always been a quality product, take the DH video for example. And I agree with Bill for a good portion of this article. I think given the new management, promo, and new video, G.U.Y. can and will do pretty well. And she'll definitely have her Ray of Light/Emancipation of Mimi/Circus/Beyonce at some point, but I don't think she'll have it just yet. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Applause went multi-platinum in the US and Do What U Want went platinum without a music video (which, let's face it, is one of the biggest promotional tools for a song, ESPECIALLY for someone like Gaga), so there's definitely enough evidence there to constitute further singles. Also his assertion that Born This Way didn't yield any big hits is silly. A 4x platinum single and two multi-platinum singles are not big hits? Sure, they didn't match the 7x platinum hits of PF and JD, but any song that hits 2 million in sales in the US is a sizable hit. Furthermore, you can't expect to constantly put out PF, JD, or BR sized hits. Most artists are lucky to get a hit as big as those once in a career.
