You didn't get what I'm saying. Since everyone is considering these the most trusted numbers for all the albums and not only Gaga's and not only now but also all the past years I think we should continue using these numbers. Its not like only ARTPOP had more sales. Everything goes a--logical.

But why should we use these sales when the more important are the ones who retailers and music stores make. But whatever makes you happy guys.

IFPI's reports are based from the info that the labels provide. And for the label A sale= shipments.

Again:

This is what they do in Europe so I can’t imagine it being different in the US

Platinum:

Awarded for actual retail sales (as opposed to shipments) of one million albums, in one of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom

Why would they award platinum records based on sales if they would just count shipments? That makes no sense.

Whispering

idk, Someone on atrl pointed out that these are absent from the list

Pink - The Truth About Love (2.9 million in MediaTraffic)

Mumford & Sons - Babel (2.4 million)

One Direction - Take Me Home (2.4 million)

So there is certainly something we aren't understanding correctly here.   maybe the timeframe?

Or maybe mediatraffic is just really really wrong.  :duck:

The Pink, M&S and 1D albums you listed all came out in 2012. Their biggest weeks were their debut weeks and the 2012 holiday season. The IFPI chart was for 2013.

The IFPI chart makes perfect sense, it's the idiots over at ATRL that aren't thinking correctly. ;)

You spilled the tea :applause:

The Gaga hate is so overwhelming that they even deny or call fake the real legit receipts :eww:

Because if all everyone does is record the number of shipments we don't have an accurate sales report. And mediatraffic doesn't count since he bases his numbers on IFPI anyway.

IFPI is reliable, accurate, and trustworthy, don't let the fools at ATRL tell you otherwise.

How does it matter if its sales or shipments, isnt the point of this the ranking?

sales, shipments or happy meals the point is that Gaga's lowest point is just barely below Katy's peak, with a huge difference in promo, because whatever they are counting here, they are counting it for all the albums, the only difference is release dates
