Since everyone is considering these the most trusted numbers for all the albums and not only Gaga's and not only now but also all the past years I think we should continue using these numbers. Its not like only ARTPOP had more sales. Everything goes a--logical. But why should we use these sales when the more important are the ones who retailers and music stores make. Again: This is what they do in Europe so I can’t imagine it being different in the US Platinum: Awarded for actual retail sales (as opposed to shipments) of one million albums, in one of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom Why would they award platinum records based on sales if they would just count shipments? Or maybe mediatraffic is just really really wrong. The Pink, M&S and 1D albums you listed all came out in 2012. Their biggest weeks were their debut weeks and the 2012 holiday season. The IFPI chart was for 2013.
