Hypothetically, even if that was a mere lyric change to 7 years, do you really think she could tell the future about how she would feel about their breakup? She just magically knew ahead of time that when they broke up, it was going to be for that particular reason and that she'd be pining for one more night? The breakup had to happen for this song to even be written

Not! bcuz i wrote a song about break up with my boyfriend and we're still together :) thank god

why did i write about break up you ask me? i'd answer...we're just having a tough time

It clearly wasn't written in 2010, because:

-it clearly is about her breakup with Luc

-it would have been a BTW reject, and she stated no unused BTW songs were considered for ARTPOP.

Just because she mentions years in her songs, doesn't mean that's when it was written. And it's "Six WHOLE years". Meaning the 6 whole years of the chase she was talking about in the previous line. Probably 6 years of a on again/off again relationship or a crush that was mutual and never became something until she got back to her Nebraska guy.

Idk but I don't ever feel like gaga is singing about Taylor lol even in dope I feel like she is addressing her fans idk its just me

It's obviously about her fans. 1) She's said so in her numerous Dope performances. Don't you listen?

2) She said it's an apology to her fans and to her family and friends for always feeling like she needs to be high to do things and write good music...

3) Dope is a reworked version of I Wanna Be With You (which was written for the fans during her period of dreading leaving her fans when she got injured).

I know.someone above me referred to dope being for Taylor and I said my comment. I just didn't quote them.

Yeah she also said about Dope I'm saying sorry to my fans, I'm sorry to my BOYFRIEND, family etc. In IWBWU she had line "but I wanna be in love"; so it's obviously about him too as he helped her through addiction and she's trying to find balance between career and being in relationship.

That's why I said it's for both, fans and Taylor. Those who don't see it, need to look again.

When did she say that? She said in 2012 that they might use some songs that didn't make the song for BTW on ARTPOP, and her sound engineer more recently said that one of the songs was from the BTW era (I think fans have determined that it was Gypsy? Since it was co-written with RedOne and she's been mentioning that word forever).

Lyrically, who knows when it was written. She completely rewrote Take You Out into Posh Life, but that doesn't mean Take You Out, the song, wasn't written in 2009. I agree that this definitely sounds like it was rewritten about the second time with Luc. I don't think that it must necessarily be after the relationship ended, though. It could be at the end, and she realizes she has to end it. She uses the present tense: "it's just that I can't watch us bleed to death" as opposed to "it's just that I couldn't watch us bleed to death,"  which would imply she had already taken the action. I think it's about wanting a final 'normal' night before finally ending the relationship, which is why she says that bit at the end about how you would be you and I would be me. 'Affair' doesn't have to mean a secret romantic relationship; it also means an event, which would make sense in context.

In short, that means the song would be about being at the end of a relationship and wanting a final night like when they first started out before finally breaking up. As such, it would have been before she was with Taylor, maybe even before she ended the relationship.

I do think that the lyrics would have had to be revised to the present edition if it was written in 2010. It doesn't sound like something from the first time they broke up.

The production is very Born This Way, and her voice sounds like it was on Changing Skies. I think this demo must be a BTW relic because I honestly don't see this fitting in with ARTPOP at all.

The lyrics sound a lot like BTW lyrics, which makes me think it was written around that time. But, at the same time, it could of been written RIGHT after she broke up with Luc while the era was still going, or she could of changed that one line. I don't think it's a big deal, really, as much as I love songs about Luc. :rip:

I think the real argument here should be, who cares? The song happened, listen to it. Like it. Hate. Love it. Whatever. Not sure why everyone is getting their panties in a twist about when it was written, because really it isn't important.

That , really

Oh I am sorry. I did not see that previous comment. Please forgive me. :)
