In You & I she says ''six whole years'', so it must mean ''7 years of bad luck dating'' that she wrote it afterwards in either 2011 or 2012 after she broke up with Luc ...

The pronunciation would be SO off tho :rip:

she's not singing in french, i suppose. it would be even weirder if she sings in french accent when she's talking to an american person.

I always thought it was you

You always thought it was me

We always thought we were it

Seemed like a real perfect fit

Those Brooklyn nights set us free

I always thought even though

We were so young we could grow

Up in the end it'd be us

We'd take the F by the bus

Where Brooklyn nights set us free

It's not that I don't wanna love you

It's not that I'm really over it, you know

It's just that I can't watch us bleed to death

When we used to be Brooklyn nights happy

I miss(ed?) our cheap chandelier

'Member when dad hung it there?

And we would watch Rocky IV

The one where the Russianss scored?

I love Briggite Nielsen's hair

I'd call you my champion

That we had already won

And cracked open the last beer

Falling asleep in our tears

Those Brooklyn nights set us free

I found an old pair of keys in my purse

That opened the walk up we shared

How did they get there, jerk?

I wanna see you there, I wanna make it work

I didn't brush my hair and my lashes are falling off

Of seven years of our bad luck dating

I want our last night there, a Brooklyn night affair

It's not that I don't wanna love you 'cause I really tried hard

Just when I hang with the old you for just one Brooklyn night, (I do?)

How 'bout drink with you for myself, we won't both act like someone else

Maybe then we first tell the truth, for just one Brooklyn night, (I do?)

Please suggest corrections and discuss the lyrical content itself :flutter:

I decided to not choose "adieu" because I expect her to understand French pronunciation and that just does not sound like it at all.

Thank you so much for this

Just one Brooklyn Night('ll do)/(will do)

One of those I think

Edit: On second thought, it definitely sounds like adieu, it does fit.

Bolded a few corrections. :)

But in English it is pronounced like that! It perfectly fits

Pretty sure "walkup" is "lock up" :P they're containers where you can store things. You rent/buy them.

Also,

It's not that I don't wanna love you 'cause I really tried hard
Just wanna hang with the old you for just one Brooklyn night, (I do?)
Have a drink with you for myself, we both won't act like someone else

I think the keys in her purse are from the LOCK-UP they shared, not walk-up.

A lock-up is a storage unit and couples often use them when they move in together, so they have somewhere to put their junk that doesn't fit in the new flat/house.
