Dayman 6,169
When did this happen? It's in this thread.
YUNGVERSACE 0
Demi Lovato is just being ignorant and has absolutely no idea what she's talking about. The performance had nothing to do with bulimia. I don't know who Demi thinks she is to talk to Gaga like that, but she needs a reality check. Gaga herself has struggled with eating disorders so she would never make fun of bulimia. Swine is a song about rape and the vomit was supposed to represent the way men would mistreat and abuse Gaga. Demi is just another hater that has no idea what she's talking about and she wanted people to talk about her. She is using The Queen Of Pop's name for some attention because she saw how much controversy Gaga was getting over the vomit and probably said to herself "Hey! If I get involved maybe people will talk about me too!" Puh-lease. :ARTPOP: :ARTPOP: :ARTPOP: :ARTPOP:

tokyodisko 0
I don't care what it is according to Gaga because I'm speaking based on my own opinion, what she says isn't gospel to me Yes it is up to the viewer, but it isn't up to the viewer to dictate what an artist should or should not be doing. That's the point. She just doesn't think Gaga should do it. She isn't going to stop Gaga from doing what she does. I don't think she said anything wrong at all. It was just her opinion. Emvee 8,357
Me too. Next era, please. Ridiculous post #2 Y'all are exactly what she was speaking out against these past few days. The idea that she can't claim her art. That she should just be beautiful and shut up.
Harry 26,836
Not really. I think anyone can label something as wrong or right, art or otherwise. It's just personal opinions. Of course, I agree. But there's a difference between doing that and her coming from nowhere and saying 'LADY GAGA SHOULD NOT DO THIS KIND OF THING' That's like me saying omg Demi Lovato making entertainment out of heart attacks? That's a very serious issue and I know people that have had heart attacks, she is irresponsible and insensitive and should not be allowed to sing that song ever again. ... it would be ridiculous She just doesn't think Gaga should do it. She isn't going to stop Gaga from doing what she does. I don't think she said anything wrong at all. It was just her opinion. But it isn't anyones place to publicly tell Gaga what to do
tokyodisko 0
But it does have a definition, If it didn't the word would be completely meaningless. Art is very loosely defined and so many things can be defined as art but Gaga's performance fits perfectly into the definition of art specifically performance art. To say it isn't art is just annoying because it is art. As for Millie's work I have actually heard of her before and found her mildly interesting, she's not as unusual as she seems in the art world there is lots of weird ass crap. It's art in your opinion, but not in Demi's. That's why I said there is no right and wrong here. I know, I've seen some really ****ed up "art". haha I think Millie was featured on a site I visited a few months back, but I didn't read the article. I think the idea of not eating and vomiting is basically a disguise for an eating disorder.
Truth 90
I agree with you. Well said I'm so sick of hearing the word "art" This, me too I read it in every post in every thread, and it literally really makes me wanna :pukey: now
Crash 11
Coming from someone who was defending Miley Cyrus' VMA stunt as a commentary on s-xuality lol I've noticed about 99% of the people calling Demi stupid or fat are relatively fit gay boys--- You realize eating disorders are now a very large part ingrained in gay culture, right? And that they are NOT healthy? That people really should raise awareness for them? Get over your personal bias and realize the bigger issue. You know this how? DrewStevens 5,249
That's an interesting way to look at it, but art is up to the viewer according to Gaga, at least when it suits her. I wouldn't say Demi is ignorant about eating disorders... hahaha Not really. I think anyone can label something as wrong or right, art or otherwise. It's just personal opinions. Having one doesn't make her an expert on it. Only by the fact that she thinks that forcing yourself to throw up is immediately linked to be bulimic is enough to know that she is not really aware of what bulimia really is. Gov Hooka 8,008
I understand you're not happy with the way your opinion on the matter was received here yesterday, but making yet another thread about this controversy is inappropriate and, at this point, unproductive. My final thought on the matter is that, as I said before, Demi is welcome to get offended by whatever she likes (and I support her cause 100%), but her indignation on this particular instance is due to her own (mis)interpretation of a performance she may or may not have actually seen. Art is up for interpretation as you said, but when you use your own - not the artist's - interpretation to get angry, that's simply nonsensical. Basically this. It's important to note the distinction between your intention and the artist's intention and understand that the artists intention is ultimately the most correct intention. Gaga's interpretation and intention was nothing like Demi's idea of it, therefore Demi is getting angry over what she saw out of Gaga's performance. Had Gaga actually intended to mock eating disorders then Demi would have just cause to get angry, but Gaga didn't intend that at all therefore Demi is incorrect. VforVendetta 2,024
I do think so too, but I'm sure having such a connection to the issue she was probably rather flustered and upset. I would love to believe that Gaga fans are above being so ignorant to other viewpoints and rude to other human beings, especially with struggles, but that's a far fetched idea. Well, since Demi uses twitter and she decides to make such a controversial comment I think that she was ready for the responses.

But her opinion is wrong, it's art by definition I highly doubt that is the case because it's nothing like any eating disorder I have ever heard of. Artists will go to extreme lengths for their work sometimes. Besides she only doesn't eat around the time she is doing it so that she isn't actually vomiting real vomit.
