Demi attacked. Spoke for everyone. Betch pls.

Uh, she spoke for people who had the same train of thought.

If you follow your logic then Gaga speaks for everyone all the damn time.

That's just part of any art. Read below:

I don't think it is though.

And defining what is art and what isn't ****ing pisses me off so much. That shouldn't be a conversation. Anything that is an expression or represents something is art to me. Whether it's good or not is a totally different matter.

Demi basically attacked Gaga's intentions and made her look like some kind of irresponsible person just for expressing herself. It isn't an interpretation, it's more like public slander...

I'll never understand what was so bad about Demi's tweet. She is entitled to her own opinion. Just like everybody else.

Honestly I think it's gotten to the point where you're simplifying my opinion to make it fit your talking points. I did not say art isn't open to interpretation. Actually I said the opposite. But if Demi's getting insulted based on her own interpretation, that's on her and not on Gaga. It is not Gaga's job to anticipate other people's own interpretations of her art. As the artist, she has her own agenda, her own point of view, and her own message. That's on her. Anything else that happens is the consumer's choice.

Exactly, this.

I don't think everyone realizes that art isn't a definite term.

I'm wondering why people still think something is "wrong", when it is just someone's opposite opinion.

She obviously feels so against this that she doesn't see it as art as much as it is exploitation.

How is that wrong of her?

Because she didn't get it?

She can't decide what is art? I think everyone has that right.

Because she targeted Gaga, politely, and said she really thinks it needs to stop?

So many people jump on defense for it.

I find Millie Brown's work itself disgusting and actually rather in support of eating disorders, but it's "art", so it's whatever.

You can say that, but Demi said that Gaga's performance is wrong so it kind of defeats your point, to be honest...

Maybe once people will understand bulimia's point is not on puking, but in feeling you're fatter than you actually are. It's a mental disorder. And puking on stage is not trying to make people be bulimic. What makes people suffer from bulimia is not seeing someone puke, it's the way this business makes us feel only slim people are beautiful. THAT is the point on bulimia.

You are absolutely right :tea:

I agree. Why are you surprised though, there always people like them, especially on the internet.

Also in my opinion Demi was overeacting. This performance would neve have influence of bulimic persons. Noone would become bulimic from this, it was performance art. SHe could have expressed better her opinion.

I do think so too, but I'm sure having such a connection to the issue she was probably rather flustered and upset.

I would love to believe that Gaga fans are above being so ignorant to other viewpoints and rude to other human beings, especially with struggles, but that's a far fetched idea.

She is not wrong for not liking it. She is wrong for saying that Millie and Gaga are promoting bulimia when they are not. She didn't express her point of view on art, she expressed how ignorant she in terms of eating disorders.

That's an interesting way to look at it, but art is up to the viewer according to Gaga, at least when it suits her.

I wouldn't say Demi is ignorant about eating disorders... hahaha

Not really. I think anyone can label something as wrong or right, art or otherwise. It's just personal opinions.

I don't care what it is according to Gaga because I'm speaking based on my own opinion, what she says isn't gospel to me  Yes it is up to the viewer, but it isn't up to the viewer to dictate what an artist should or should not be doing. That's the point.

Ugh, right? It wasn't even all that rude, she just felt very defensive about an issue she is connected to.

But it does have a definition, If it didn't the word would be completely meaningless. Art is very loosely defined and so many things can be defined as art but Gaga's performance fits perfectly into the definition of art specifically performance art.

To say it isn't art is just annoying because it is art.

As for Millie's work I have actually heard of her before and found her mildly interesting, she's not as unusual as she seems in the art world there is lots of weird ass crap.
