GagaMyBlood95 9,915
I understand that and I respect it, but Gaga needs to understand that she needs labels and money to make music and performances and go on tour like she does now! It's not the point to mainstream your music, no, but you really can't be THAT rebellious....
gagavsartpop 0
I didn't become a gaga fan through just music tho, I became one based on her sound, visuals, eccentric style, her hype, her non stop performances and music videos and interviews and promo and yes, a #1 or #2 here or there..... u can't scream."**** u pop music" and not expect it to feel like a slap in the face to some fans who made her who she is because of their love of pop..... I fell in love with all that too but I loved that she isn't sticking to the traditional Lady Gaga most people know.
Mary Pain 0
If anything this performance and the whole set showed us that she is done with pleasing others but herself...for good. I, for instance, enjoyed the performance solely for the statement that she made. The way they threw these ARTPOP letters on stage...I mean, come on, now she has made everything absolutely clear... I'm really glad that Gaga has realized this. It will be better for her in the long run in my opinion :)
HeavyMetalLuvah 0
I really wish fans would understand this. Lady Gaga's desire for fame/success is intense. I honestly think she does have a natural affinity for art, and is incredibly passionate about it, but I feel like she is unable to separate the two. This is the same girl who admitted she started stripping on stage just to get people to pay attention to her. This is the same girl who wanted to be a rockstar from the get go, but changed to a popstar after meeting Fusari. This is the same girl who allegedly would break down when her songs weren't good enough to Fusari.(this is not really confirmed, but) This is the same girl who wrote a half-satirical-half-professing album about Fame. This is the same girl who admitted she loves the paparazzi because it helps her garner fame. This is the same girl who use to state in Gagavisions how much she wants to be Number 1. "Who would want to be number 2?" she professed. This is the same girl who seems as obsessed about her image/success as alot of the fans on this forum do. (She seems to react negatively when the stuff she gets hyped about doesn't do that well) This is the same girl who constantly puts her art in a social perspective. "Born this Way is the album of the decade." "ARTPOP is the album of the millennium" This is the same girl who raves on randomly about her success on the charts, even though she say she doesn't write music for the charts. ------ It's not big shocker she cares about fame. Most people who do pop usually have a huge obsession with fame/success, whatever the reason be. Shoot Michael Jackson was the biggest **** in the game, and he could have probably done anything he wanted musically and still be liked, but if you watched documentaries he was also obsessed with out doing himself in the public eye. Who wanted his album BAD to top thriller in sales. Katy Perry even admitted she dresses up the way she does sometimes to garner attention. And many major label artists have talked about themselves selling out/creating pop music just to become successful. This is not rarity in the music industry. ------ She is an incredibly talented artist, and has proved she can deliver some ****ing solid and epic performances. I mean all the performances in Born This Way were simply stunning, vocally, visually, ideally. After witnessing that era, I felt like she had the potential to be something really legendary. And I have nothing but love and support for her, even if I don't like the things she does. But the girl is obviously having some issues with her own conformity and desire for fame vs. freedom of expression and affinity for art. She seems like she honestly wants to express herself and be who she wants, but after she receives negative reaction from anybody she seems to get quite upset. She's no definition rockstar, because a real rockstar while desiring success, does not give a **** what anyone thinks of their music. They're purely in the industry to express themselves. Many rockstars will even go against their labels knowing the financial/career risks it imposes to them. ---- I think this performance today was simply her really in some sort of emotional/mental rebellion. I think she's starting to really sicken herself with her obsession of the fame, and perhaps is trying to push herself to stop caring, because being the intelligent/somewhat socially conscious girl she is, she is realizing her attempts to impress, especially lately are quite futile, and that at the end of the day none of the success is worth the conformity. And I think at the end with the whole whole oh I have the perform this song because the label wants me too really shows that. It seems like she was really just allowing herself to go back in her roots. However it just felt so weird because of her juxtaposing pop music with a rock star mentality. Sister 9,907
I do get it, I just didn't enjoy the show. I've always defended her to the hilt, but when she started singing that version of Bad Romance, I was just like "What?!? This doesn't sound good at all." And then on top of it she shades Applause. It just put a really sour note on that whole show for me. No, I'm not kidding. She was like "This is your music guyzzzz!!!!!" And I'm literally from the country, it was insulting to country music, and it was insulting to Bad Romance. I feel the same and also the other posts that you have written here. Is Gaga trying to make me hate her and not be a fan??!!! If you hate Bad Romance, I'd rather you just drop it from the setlist. Any other song as well, but that one hurts the most for me. The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
holy scheisse 22,254
Gaga has an album to promote. Her career is on danger and she's doing nothing to bring success back. have you not grasped yet that she does not give a f*ck!
badgalriri 1,124
Well that's bullsh!t, I've done nothing but defend her up to this point. It was insulting because it just sounded BAD. Bullsh*t, bullsh*t, bullsh*t. This is her album, this is her music, this is her era. Even she herself said the label has not been the problem. These things were her responsibility, and this is her first album where she actually lets it slip through the cracks. Honey no. She is under contract. she is just a pawn to Interscope. Don't you see how the singles are turning out? they have spent the last 4 months deciding what the next one will be. they are arguing. It's interscopes music and Gaga is just selling it. and BR didn't sound bad lol you're crazy You said it all perfectly. ty girl ily
IAmTheX 0
I'm realizing she's complaining about these years, about how her record obliged her to make an excessively commercial album because of BTW's reception, about how she was obliged to cancel the DWUW video, to change the single... But I also see her trying to get attention, like, she's being puked on stage, she knows that's what public wants and she's making it. I really think she's being so intelligent now, and I think this is the beginning of ARTPOP.

If you hate Bad Romance, I'd rather you just drop it from the setlist. Any other song as well, but that one hurts the most for me. Thanks. I had a good sleep last night and I feel much better now, although I still don't like that show. Better to move forward and focus on the postiveHoney no. No point in continuing this discussion since clearly you're not even remotely aware of what's been going on this era.
Pop 4,541
Gaga is at her worst and her floppiest when she tries to "please" the GP. What her fans need to understand is that she will NEVER be a Britney, Katy or Rihanna. She will NEVER be America's darling who looks cute and dances to a basic pop song. Her whole thing is breaking boundaries and making people THINK. Respect that! Celebrate that! The Taylor Brigade: KNOCKOUT
lavenderblondee 3,695
She needs to get her own label and figure out what she wants, truly. I hate seeing her like this. She cannot complain about the pop industry while staying in the industry/label.
Ambrosia 3,775
I think this performance was well within the realm of Lady Gaga. Personal taste in the show is on a case-by-case basis. I respect the ones who liked it and I respect the ones who don't, as long as they can provide rationale for their reasoning. This pop thing isn't new though. In 2010, Semi Precious Weapons told us something like, Don't call Lady Gaga a ****ing pop star. I may not know totally what they were screaming about on that frenzied stage, but it's kind of been a theme with her. She's mentioned in the past (including the recent Jimmy Kimmel) that she likes hard metal. Do not do to others what angers you if done to you by others. -Socrates
