Dolev 866
I know, I know... it is indeed long but really reading worthy. So much tea being spilled in just one article It’s no secret; In America you’re either in or you’re VERY out. There’s no mercy and there’s no attention to consequence. One minute you’re on the glittery pedestal of Stardom and then you’re torn apart by critics like hungry wolves. It’s nothing new. Even shows that let America choose usually know that America doesn’t know **** about true talent. It’s all about what’s in now and what’s out. It’s happened to Jennifer Lopez. One minute she’s America’s sweetheart and Jenny From The Block, the next minute she’s blacklisted for dating Ben Affleck. Same goes for Dixie Chicks. On top of the world until they made a political comment. Then it was down hill from there. America has no real remorse for a Star and figures they’ll be okay. And when they leave you flat they leave you really flat. Even Britney suffered the harsh consequences of following her own dreams rather than the superficial ones forced upon her. She ended up shaving her head, throwing drinks and getting wheeled out of her house in a gurney. But no matter what you say, America is always rooting for you. Right? And while the list goes on and on and on about the merciless tyranny of pop culture, one artist who has been caught in the cross hares and falling into a net that has been extremely difficult to climb out of. For quite a while Lady Gaga was praised for her piano driven explosive performances, her eclectic behavior and outrageous outfits. They fawned over her avant garde personality and were thrilled whenever she graced any stage. When her videos came out, they were highly regarded as pop art and all the world, not just America were in awe of Lady Gaga. And just like that, America turned on Gaga. Having to cancel her American Born This Way Tour for a medical emergency, America felt betrayed and turned on Gaga like wild animals. Even her Little Monsters went rogue and looked out for themselves more than they did for Gaga eventually hindering her rather than helping. And meanwhile news about her new album #ARTPOP was stirring for over a year and was truly anticipated…but by whom? When the songs were leaked and the first single was released, it seemed like Gaga was on top of the world again. “Applause†was a smash hit and the video was creatively successful. And yet America decided to pit her against a fellow pop star for absolutely no reason. There was a race to release singles, videos and eventually an album, but Gaga aimed to created a back story leading up to ARTPOP. This didn’t sit well with a hurry up and wait American society, where pop culture is speed of light fast. Gaga was left in the dust, and was pushed aside for homely Katy Perry. Although the two women are distinct, they were thrown into the musical arena until one came out victorious and only by a few more albums. Lady Gaga was ridiculed and treated like **** not only by her listeners, but by people she worked with. She had major changes to do, and because of the turmoil, even amidst a fairly successful album, Gaga suffered immensely. Not only emotional but financially. And now that there are rumors that her tour is suffering, I’m not surprised. You see America likes to hold up a star and place them in the sky to shine, but only with a time limit, and then just like that they are yanked down, crashing and burning. Everyone likes to see an accident. They can’t turn their eyes away from it. So the very people who wrote wonderful things about her, decidedly stripped her of her merits and self-worth. And while Gaga keeps thriving and pushing forward, America is not satisfied until they seem gimmicks and explosions and a big **** you from Gaga. They want to see her emerge like a phoenix as long as they make sure she hits rock bottom first so they can expect a victorious return. America wants those dance pop friendly songs tinged in mystery that Gaga is so good at doing. They want to see her completely covered in a shroud of eccentricity. They want to see her act erratic and weird and they like to feel like they are part of a phenomenon. They just don’t understand that Gaga is human. They will never comprehend that. They look at her like an alien that has graced our planet for only moments. When Gaga dies, she will be revered and put on a pedestal like Marilyn Monroe. And rather than appreciating her worth now that she is alive, she is going to be a pop martyr and she knows it. That is were her pain lies. To be so successful but only at the mercy of America. And that hinders her truly. But even while America sabotages Lady Gaga, she has no ill will towards her country. She realizes her life and knows how to get back to where she’s been. And with a heavy heart she is going to sacrifice herself to be in your good graces. You see, Lady Gaga is her own person. Her own entity. And while she lives for the applause she also appreciates the silence. And when she returns with her new album, it’ll be so sardonic for her, because she knows what people are really like. And maybe, just maybe we’ll be playing by her rules. You just watch. Source is the Revolutionary Gay Magazine tumblr blog.
Haldy 1,258
I do agree that the American media was foul this time around, to her and ARTPOP's project as a whole. Reporting about blatant lies (Angela Chang's everything) and stating her album was a total flop (it's sold better than Miley?) just to get page views and site hits. Nasty business. Peach 0
So is Tumblr considered a reputable source now? Anyhow, the reason for Gaga's decline is very simple: the quality of her work has gotten significantly worse.

Sugarfall 3,723
USA thinks that it is the only country in the world, no matter how well ARTPOP does elsewhere it is still ARTFLOP. And that is disgusting.
No Angel 128
So is Tumblr considered a reputable source now? Anyhow, the reason for Gaga's decline is very simple: the quality of her work has gotten significantly worse. Although what you're saying is considered an opinion, I must agree to a certain extent. Her "decline" is a mixture of the audience's reception and the work she presents to us as well.

Future Lover 2,588
There are many things I disagree with in this article: "When the songs were leaked and the first single was released, it seemed like Gaga was on top of the world again. “Applause†was a smash hit and the video was creatively successful." "And just like that, America turned on Gaga. Having to cancel her American Born This Way Tour for a medical emergency, America felt betrayed and turned on Gaga like wild animals." I do agree with with the overall message, but a lot of points are wrong in my opinion. She wasn't even close to on top of the world when Applause came out. She did promo, had the video, etc, but nothing helped.
TimisaMonster 31,073
It just seemed that timing wasn't right...it's true that Beyonce, Miley, Katy, and Britney all released their albums around the same time and Katy's basicness reigned high over Gaga's WELL thought out concept album... Urban 9
Wow this was such a great read! I do agree with everything. America loves to put people on top just to see them fall, and Gaga knew that because she talked a lot about that in her first two albums. I just wish people were nicer to her, some people are rude just for the sake of being rude.
