Gaga's Popularity by Gender

I've been to her concert six times. The audience is made up of MAINLY gay guys then girls and a few straight guys who came with their girlfriends. That's the truth.

Dude, just because you have been to a concert where you saw mostly gay guys does not mean that all of Gaga's fans are gay.

It means that most of her fans are gay. There are tons of Gaga fans who are straight. You are making a generalization.

So you went upto all those thousands of attendees and ask them if they came with their GFs or not? lol

I mean there are thousands of ppl in a arena, there's no way you would know who's straight or not, moreover who's their with their GFs or just because they are a Gaga fan.

Imagine if people ranked her popularity by s-xual orientation :lmao:

But yeah, I'm not surprised that she isn't as high on the list for males

MESS it would be like

GAYS 99%

Lesbians 80%

Straights less than 2% after btw LOL

Now people can stop with the 'omg she needs to appeal to straight guyzz!'. It's not significant for female pop stars. Rihanna is the highest female artist among males, but her sales don't seem to benefit from that.

I see nothing surprising here. Obviously males listen to females... This industry resembles **** industry nowadays :toofunny:  It's not about the music or charisma at all

once again, no matter how much data on songs played it does not mean these are the artist people actually like the best.  i hear dark horse 20 times a day on apps n radio (literally) and applause once on my iPod, but hearing that song doesnt meant I LIKE Katy Perry more than I LIKE lady gaga which is what this article even claims. It doesn't give any accuracy of who people actually like as a favorite, it just tells how many plays or mentions there are. Maybe saying whos most played would be a more accurate claim. not who is favorite ;)

Well if that's what you are arguing you should say so.

The actual website that performed the study did not use the word favorite anywhere in it, and neither did you until just now. In fact, the word favorite is completely irrelevant in a study talking about gender listening differences.

You can read it for yourself. It's actually very interesting and if you honestly believe it doesn't mean anything, you are just burying your head in the ground.

Most people who listen to Gaga listen to the majority of other females on the list, so it's more about size than intensity of audience.

Madonna not on list - that's what happens when ONLY gays listen to your music (and older people who don't listen on Spotify cause they have the classic albums).

Whispering

All?

What kind of hasty generalization?  :rip:

ALL is a generalization and is too extreme, but in the US, straight males make up a very small percentage of pop radio listeners.

Pop radio is geared towards female listeners and therefore most artists who are strictly pop radio have mostly female fans. (or gay male fans)

The majority of straight men in the US listen to Alt. Rock, Rock, AAA, Hip Hop/Rap, and Country.

Also, EDM! :)

Like everything, nothing is 100% and there are always outliers, but there are general patterns that can be observed and noted.

It would be enough to say "a minority" - just like there is a sizeable minority of females who watch football and hockey.

They probably don't talk a great deal about their pop fandom to strangers, so they don't get teased by macho jerks and hipsters.

The fact that guys love Daft Punk and Calvin Harris shows it's not the beat of dance pop that's the problem - its "I'm too much of a he man to listen to girls singing." Then they invent a bunch of s-xist excuses - girls can't sing, they are industry puppets, etc.
