Gaga's Popularity by Gender

I think Gaga had the girls sometime around Paparazzi, but lost some of them with BTW (the album). Still, decent ranking for her from both sides though.

Not surprised at Rih being so popular with my fellow females. She's been though some stuff, and her sings are more about relationships. I think if Gaga wrote more songs about her personal life rather than some abstract idea like fame or art she'd appeal more (see how everyone seems to like Gypsy). Some music reviewer called her a musical idealist once, and that's a pretty apt description of what she's been doing with BTW and ARTPOP for the most part. The thing is I think more people would rather have music they can understand on a personal level most of the time. I think it's a huge achievement that Applause was so popular (given the crazy lyrics it had), but at the same time I can see how it might have scared away most of those aforementioned Paparazzi fans from giving the album a chance and supporting her this time around.

Not to say that she should change 100%, but I definitely think that's explains some things.

I'm not too surprised by this. Very rarely do I hear of a straight guy that listens to Gaga. Just about every gay I've ever come in contact with does listen to her though.

If you ask the transgender crowd, though... different spellings of her name (Lady Gaga, Lady GaGa and just Gaga) will occupy the #1, #2 and #3 positions.

That's a very large sample size :toofunny:

It's statistically sound.

Whoever thought straight men listened to Britney Spears though :awkney:

And Shakira hasn't made good music in, how long?

i just dont think 200,000 for the millions and millions of people says enough but whatever... i think if they did some broader audience the findings would be very different is all. not even just shakira n brit just overall

Yea but like, hundreds of years of the study of statistics disagree with you.

It wouldn't be different, is all. Very very low range of error for a sample size that large.

there are tons of reasons this data is not representational for all music... far too many variables

where are these listeners from? bc they listen does it mean you like that artist or like a particular song? are things like iheartradio and rapsody representational for all music listeners?

  :coffee:

but thank you professor ;)

Data points, 1.1 billion, known songs, 35.4 million, known artist, 2.667 million, music application, 432.

There are quite literally zero reasons to think that 200,000 people (which is an huge statistical sample) is not representative.

once again, no matter how much data on songs played it does not mean these are the artist people actually like the best.  i hear dark horse 20 times a day on apps n radio (literally) and applause once on my iPod, but hearing that song doesnt meant I LIKE Katy Perry more than I LIKE lady gaga which is what this article even claims. It doesn't give any accuracy of who people actually like as a favorite, it just tells how many plays or mentions there are. Maybe saying whos most played would be a more accurate claim. not who is favorite ;)

Levine

The shocker is Chris Brown and Robin Thicke being more popular with females, despite being loathed by feminists.

Because women are the worst anti-femminists in the world.

I've been to her concert six times. The audience is made up of MAINLY gay guys then girls and a few straight guys who came with their girlfriends. That's the truth.

All?

What kind of hasty generalization?  :rip:
