Guest Posted March 23, 2014 Share Posted March 23, 2014 I had 5 heart attacks! #1 ARTPOP I expected ARTPOP to be played during the war scene, but that version PLUS the way the scene was written and directed - HOLY COW #2 VENUS OMG VENUS. I DIDN'T EXPECT THAT. #3 MINECRAFT I started laughing because this b---h is such a fan, just like me. Who would've expected a Minecraft scene in a high end Lady Gaga video? EXACTLY. #4 GREETINGS GAGA, GODDESS OF HOTNESS She looks absolutely AMAZING. She never looked better, seriously. Damn, you go girl #5 MANiCURE Even though it only got the credits part, I still got a heart attack when MANiCURE started. Bad points first: -Didn't like the head in the sky that much -The housewives singing Venus was really awkward -the minecraft gaga head thing Good points: -The intro, was phenomenal, I love that look on her with the wings, and the title track really suits this sequence -The outfits were amazing, I don't think I disliked a single one! -Loved the long flowing hair and it's continuity throughout the video. -The choreo slayed my existence, it's so strong and really goes with the track! Well done Richy Squirrel! -The editing is wonderful, very careful attention paid to the camera angle sequencing. -The filming was great, the scenery beautiful. -Strong storyline: Rising from the ashes, being reborn ready to take over the world by replacing men with her perfect man using DNA from Ghandi, Jesus and Michael Jackson. Basically controlling the world without people knowing i.e being a true G.U.Y -The bit where they kill the guys is so fierce!! -The final look she gives the camera with the fluttering eyelashes, oh my god gaga you know what you're doing! -The attention to detail as a whole is so perfect, so much is going on yet it doesn't seem cluttered. AdelaAngelo 0 Posted March 23, 2014 Share Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) gonna try a--lyse the video, sorry if this is a bit long lol first, lets talk about the storyline. so basically what it's about (and it's pretty obvious) is the music industry. and it's much of a life-teller. at first they abandon her when she's sick (the arrow in her back - the hip injury in real life), cuz they only care about money, and she has to get back on her feet on her own and make it through. so she ''rises from the ashes like a phoenix''! and that's where the 'good guys' (i guess that's supposed to be hear team and friends/family in real life) come and take her to ''VENUSland''. in that place everything is perfect, everyone is so supportive and after some time she manages to recover. but she hasnt forgotten the past so together with other ppl she creates clones using DNA from Jesus and Michael Jackson. and then at the end they go into the building and throw money at the men, in order to distract them, and kill the bosses. So, the first thing that comes in mind is that she's mad at the music industry and everyone involved in it.She thinks it's high time she put an end to all this (+ having in mind all the times she's been talking about this). Then, there comes the second line. what the song is actually about: feminism. ''i don't need to be on top to know i'm worth it cuz i'm strong enough to know the truth'' this is pretty obvious too, isn't it? and in the video all the clones she creates are men, it's like she's playing with them like dolls, and that's the allusion. + at the very end, it's the women that kill the men. (+ the song choice tho - MANiCURE) so this is mostly it. but here comes the interesting part: THE REFERENCES! there are SO many references. the most obvious one is the fact that half of the video looks like a typical katy perry video (doesn't it?). at first it made me kinda disappointed "what are people going to say?","she doesnt need this to succeed'' but then i thought: that's gaga - she's smart - she would never do anything so cheap (by cheap i DO NOT call katy's style cheap, i mean that doing what is a trend now in order to succeed is cheap and commerical). and that reminded me of Machete Kills, of Telephone (remember all the advertising in it?) so i came to the conclusion that it is NOT like a katy perry video, it's like a Robert Rodruigez movie! and that explained it all - all the references, especially at the end: there is sth sci-fi (star trek?) in it, sth retro (the jeans dance reminded me of Dirty Dancing). and on the other hand - there is michael jackson and in one of the scenes she looks so much like Amy WInehouse (this must be another reference to the music industry and to the mass ppl who want to see the decay of the star). also when the two man take her to "VENUSland'' the way they carry her makes her look like Jesus (still not quite sure what this might mean). but what i can say is that there is WAY more behind it all. i will end by saying that if only looked at it as a normal music video, it's looks ****ing expensive and well done, and there is a visible difference from all her last videos, in style, kinda reminding of her pre-BTW ones. she looks like the superstar she is! This person who never likes anything." I don't get why people who are perpetually unhappy with Gaga continue to spend their time here. Just saying. Anyway, I was about to ask who the fourth "hero" she cloned was because I can't see in the video, but then I saw in the credits it's John Lennon. :legend: Im blonde, I'm skinny, I'm rich, and I'm a little bit of a bitch.
