Do you miss controversial-ga?

yes, but i'm glad she's taking a break!!  it was painful hearing and seeing people only recognize gaga for "antics" without really listening to what she was saying or caring about her as a whole.  i think it was frustrating for her too.  and like other members have mentioned, everyone started trying to emulate her in this regard.  taking a break from the theatrics for a while forces people to recognize her for things other than that, which is good, and will also make her next performance piece (or whatever it may be) that much more spectacular.

hopefully this break means that whatever she returns with will be well thought out and strong!!  as much as i loved the born this way era, some of the performance pieces felt rushed, which was frustrating for both her and her fans.  and that seems to have been continuing into the ARTPOP era too, going off what she said about the behind-the-scenes complications a while ago.

it depends on what you mean by controversial though. if it means starting a conversation, knowing that with your artistic intentions you've penetrated the zeitgeist in some way, then yes i miss the conversation pieces. im not here for utterly complacent performances and visuals in which gaga just does "nice' things, simple, bordering on mindless and boring. watching just her performances you would think ARTPOP is an acoustic album. im not here for "nice" work, if i wanted that i'd follow katy perry. nice is almost a pejorative when referring to great art. like that do what you want performance at the AMA's. i found that to be so un-gaga and so conformist. everyone boy and girl, dressed like typical boy and girl matching tuxedo numbers, gaga is the marilyn, pretty, blonde, and apologetic. she's been protesting the exact opposite about herself as an artist for the duration of the ARTPOP era and even before that, so that performance i found to be a creative lowpoint.

To me personally she seems to be the same to me, I do understand what you mean though.... my answer would be that i just love everything she does and i'm terrible at telling the difference  :ohwell:

Gaga is Life

I miss Gaga being controversial so much  It's like she's lost a part of her or something... well at least that's how it feels for me :spin:

It's not that she isn't controversial anymore, it's because we have gotten used to her style. If she does anything that would have been considered controversial a few years ago, today, it wouldn't be as big of a hit. That's why when something is finally considered "controversial" about Gaga, it's blown out of proportion and the media says she is trying too hard, and it's all an act for attention. When it was new, it seemed (somewhat) natural, but now the public's interest has cooled, and it's not "controversial", it's just Gaga.

Yes, so much. But these days I feel like every pop star is trying to be Gaga circa 2009-10, so I don't mind her being like "oh I already did all that silly stuff, now I'm a real artist." Still miss it even though I appreciate what she's doing now.

THIS. Omg and I've told people this before. It's hilarious watching her walk around all toned down (especially during the flannel phase) while celebs are out here striving for her past iconic looks.  :dies:

Yes I miss that so much! :emo:

Her being controversial helped her to stand out and it was much more entertaining and bold.
