You're right, and if you looked through, you'd see it was also those countries that were listed in the report

Those are shipments, and sales made to businesses, not individuals

To sum it up for you, those are how many copies the stores bought, not the people

Who cares about that?

Media traffic reports sales only from 15 countries. And there are more than 190 countries in the world.

First of all, they report from 27 countries.

You must know that the 30 biggest markets make up for 95% of the sales.

I didnt know Applause was only a hit in the us. Here in Chile was played like mad at least till end of september, top 5 in popular radios!

Here in Holland it didn't even enter Top 10, Applause was basically done in Europe a month after its release.

Those data sales were from a month and half ago. US is at 680,000 already, Mexico and UK are way higher already. lmao. all of this needs to be updated.

True, but remember that we're talking about 2013 sales, not overall.

I don't know. I'm doubting that would be shipments because it seems like that wouldn't make any sense. First of all, why would stores that sell CDs be buying up over a million extra copies of ARTPOP to sell if it wasnt selling good (based on pre orders) in the first place. Also, most big box stores that sell cds like walmart, target, best buy are not selling cds much anymore. most sales come from itunes, or other downloadable music apps. you're telling me that these companies bought that many cds to sell in their stores? there are 1200 Walmarts, 400 targets, and 200 best buys in the entire world. do the math. 1200+400+200+ 100(for any other stores that might sell cds still)= 1900

your math says there are over 1 million shipments unpurchased, plus the roughly 500k that were purchased. thats 1.5 mill

1.5mil hard copies divided by 1900 Worlwide stores that sell CDs= That would mean each store would have had to buy (on average) 790 copies of ARTPOP to sell in their store.

I'm sorry, no store, even big box, even when hard copies of CDs were still popular, were buying 789 copies of an album to sell in their store, especially now when CDs aren't as popular, and their marketing people knew that Gaga's sales wouldn't be on the uprise. sorry

and for the record, when I went to walmart only a week after ARTPOP came out they only had like 30 copies available.

:toofunny: these probably only exist in North America. Here we don't have them, the biggest retailers here would be Marskramer, Media Markt and Saturn.

Huh. Doubt it, to be honest. She's sold ~1,2M in 2013 according to MediaTraffic, it can't be THAT far off!

Like, it's impossible to me to have 20% of your sales come from the US when the only hit from your album was a hit local to the US :toofunny:

Perhaps it's shipments.

this..

OMG G.U.Y.S!

The (French) media company Vivendi owns the major label Universal, Universal owns the labels Interscope (Gaga, Eminem) and Capitol (Katy) etc.!

That's why they're shown together here and that's why it's M O R E than legit!

So basically Gaga and Katy belong to the same major label which of course tries to maximize the profit of both, so they would never play them out towards each other (this just as a side note...)

Miley and Britney belong to Sony Music, that's why they're not shown here.

It's logical it's shipments. Gaga has, in the 3 markets were she promoted, sold 900k copies in 2013. If the 2,3M figure is true, ~35% of the album sales are from the 3 biggest markets. With Born This Way, 60% of the sales come from these markets.

It's not logical that ARTPOP is doing better relatively to these 3 markets, while Applause was local to Japan/North America, and DWUW didn't happen anywhere while BTW smashed everywhere, Judas was a hit in Europe/Latin America and TeoG did great in some markets.

Because these figures don't make sense. Applause was local to North America and did okay in Japan, yet with these figures, 32% of the sales would come from these 2 markets while they make up for 50% of BTW's sales - while BTW had global singles, not a single as local as Applause.

Applause was not a local single. It may not be a hit in your country but yes in the rest of Europe, and it was also successful on Latin America and some asian countries.
