It's so funny how TEOG and DWUW suffered similar fates but on different scales. Except instead of Judas, the ****ty second single to be this time was Venus. And instead of an underwhelming video, there was NO video at all. TEOG and DWUW would've had higher peaks had they just been the 2nd single instead of Gaga or her label trying to take a "gamble" with a subpar song which does nothing except perpetuate the stereotype that Gaga is a weirdo who makes ****ty music. I think Judas is a lot better, but that's just my opinion. When BTW shot to #1 it was her 1st single of her new album and the 1st new music from her in years. It was before people heard the song a million times, before Gaga appeared on countless shows, news reports, interviews etc.. and before she had released several other singles. Then Judas came out. People didn't like the song + video. Then TEOG came out but it was too late. ( I'm suprised it directly went #3 ) I dont even say anything about the video. I think the main reason about this era's problem is her look. She was always crazy about fashion but she went too far. That's what I think as well. Before Alejandro she was crazy-cool in GP's point of view, but then she became crazy-creepy and I guess people were turned off kinda... How bout we don't be complete assholes to people who actually make intelligent threads The OP didn't meltdown, didn't hate on Gaga, they simply asked a valid question and was probs looking for some decent discussion. We have enough stupid threads in this forum, don't attack the ones that are intelligent OT: I think it had a lot to do with the video, and song, being reasonably normal compared to what she had recently out out. That's why it did good, just didn't shoot to the top or anything, because people were still reeling from her shoving Born This Way and the "Catholic hating" Judas singles at them. And since it was a promo single before, it got lost in the momentum. Thank you :) Yeah it's just that it came to my mind and I am very interested in chart methodology... I just think it's a really great track and seeing Katy Perry charting #1 with a previous promo single - and that without a video - made me probably ask myself why TEOG didn't reach it. However I'm still very proud it was alltogether such a successful single and it kinda proved that Gaga can also have hit singles without hit videos. It already had a lot of sales as a promo single before becoming the official third single. Because the label had the GENIUS idea to release a single that already slayed before as a promo single + the video is boring Worked with Dark Horse tho.
