Bambino 24,266
Did it have to go #1? If this shows anything, it's that great songs don't need a #1 spot to prove how successful they can be.
Liam Germanotta 3
since Born This Way, she's become the Master of Promotional Mess... I wonder if she's planning on changing that anytime soon I feel like she has a million ideas for a project, she needs somebody to 'limit' her and tell her sometimes "no, that's too much" or "no, it's too late to change it, we've already prepared it" DWUW says hi i love the way gaga decide to make TEOG video like this. It is just proven how she loves the song more than the sell itself. She made the video become so personal. And i feel blessed for this than if she became a mermaid. It will ruin the song aura. When I read it first I didn't understand why TEOG ruins Aura

Pop Art 1,773
1. Judas dulled the momentum of the era. 2. The video was released far too late to assist the song in a significant way. Also - and this is extremely subjective - I think a more engaging video, such as the original concept, would have helped the song more. 3. She concurrently promoted different songs along with it, when the focus should have been on the current single. While I'm very pleased with how the song did, it saddens me that it could have done so much better. I love Judas, but I'm gonna put the bulk of the blame on its release as the second single. It shouldn't have been a single in my opinion, because it really did dim the hype and momentum of the era. If she had released The Edge Of Glory as the second single, performed it either by itself or at most with Born This Way, and released a more engaging video, it would have gone #1 and sold well over 3 million copies in the US, no questions asked. J U D A S 5
People hated BTW ( the single ), her new look. She started to showing up everywhere which made everyone tired of her. Then Judas came out. People didn't like the song + video. Then TEOG came out but it was too late. ( I'm suprised it directly went #3 ) I dont even say anything about the video. I think the main reason about this era's problem is her look. She was always crazy about fashion but she went too far.
Kermit the frog 1,921
Because it was rush released + the bad video.. If it was released as the official 2nd single, IT WOULD HAVE DEBUTED AT NUMBER 1 and there is like NO DENYING. (well It could've been also blocked by Rolling in the DEEP but still I believe it could've easily be number 1 ) This this and that.
Jewels n Drugs 4,629
BTW was the first Gaga song since TFM but it actually wasn't as popular as it's sales make it seem. It damaged her image and then Judas damaged it even more. TEOG was popular but it had been a buzz single for a while before it was a single and it also had to compete with Judas and Hair. She kind of ruins the momentum of her singles by releasing so many buzz singles and promoting them just as much as her actual singles. Then of course there was the video. I love the video tbh but there is no denying that it would have helped the song allot more if it was up to the normal Gaga standard. codymonster 8,571
get over it celebrate the album and not make another 34543 thread on this subject it wasn't the best single choice duh neither was you and i How bout we don't be complete assholes to people who actually make intelligent threads The OP didn't meltdown, didn't hate on Gaga, they simply asked a valid question and was probs looking for some decent discussion. We have enough stupid threads in this forum, don't attack the ones that are intelligent OT: I think it had a lot to do with the video, and song, being reasonably normal compared to what she had recently out out. That's why it did good, just didn't shoot to the top or anything, because people were still reeling from her shoving Born This Way and the "Catholic hating" Judas singles at them. And since it was a promo single before, it got lost in the momentum.
Gagz 2,579
It already had a lot of sales as a promo single before becoming the official third single.
Red 97,981
Because the label had the GENIUS idea to release a single that already slayed before as a promo single + the video is boring If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating. Lets just celebrate the anniversary of BTW and focus on the here and now that's whats important The OP wasn't moaning though That's my point. They asked a legitimate question about why we think it didn't reach number 1. If they were complaining about it, I'd defs be putting them in their place It's a nice change from everyone b---hing about what's been happening this month :toofunny:
