**** you Gaga I hate you

lol jk, it's her life and she can do whatever she wants, if that makes her happy then I'm ok with that

plus people always get the message of born this way wrong, it's about being who you are and trying to be the way you wanna be, drag queens were not born like that but they have tried to find their true selves since they were very young, that's what BTW is about :worship:

My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48

honestly it is kind of hypocritical because gaga encourages loving yourself, but then again it is really making you happy and if you feel strong i'd say go for it. i think at gaga's age her body looks better than ever! But if it makes her happy so be it

at first, I would say "Biaatch!! I wish I could have the money to do it!!  :crossed: " And then I wouldn't care.

It doesn't go against the BTW message. As many have explained before, it is about "loving yourself" in a deeper level than just something to fix on your body.

Her body her choice.

I think it is disappointing and disturbing that we have a culture that encourages people to undergo a surgical procedure (surgery should never be taken lightly), in order to fit with society's body ideal but I don't think we should be putting the blame on individuals that succumb to the enormous pressure put on them by society. They are only doing what is best for them.

I agree with you. It's also interesting to think about people who undergo surgical modifications to look less "ideal" by society's standards. Though tattoos aren't really surgery, Gaga's tattoos kind of relate to this idea...I don't think most people in society would think tattooing a rat on your elbow is conventionally pretty. Most people on GGD had a meltdown when she got that tattoo because it wasn't a pretty flower or butterfly. Same with the septum piercing. I think the whole BTW era was trying to prove that you can have rebirths and reinvent yourself without conforming to society's standards...hence the horns and other "unappealing" looks she sported back when she promoted the album. Anyway, sorry I'm rambling  :laughga:

(edit: I re-read your post and understand what you were saying better now!)

 good point.

I think there is a difference between body modification and getting a boob job, nose job ect though.

At the end of the day people can choose to do whatever they wish with their bodies, my only problem is the society that pushes and promotes surgery as a way to fix insecurities caused by the promotion of an unrealistic body ideal.

It's her life and it's her choice. If it makes her feel better about herself then there is nothing wrong with it. I'm a fan of hers because she is talented and i can relate to her music, her physical appearance is irrelevant to me for the most part.

Also people are misunderstanding the message she wanted to get across with BTW but it's already been explained earlier in this thread.

I didn't like it when she had her lips done. I feel as if it counteracted her message.

This......injections...needles...knife...etc...In my eyes, she's already had some :coffee:

Shame on you Gaga...:ohwell:

Yes, definitely. I re-read the end of your post and I like missed the point of it completely

I used to have insecurities about very minor things on my body, even little freckles that (most :hor: ) people will people never notice. When I realized how airbrushed magazines are (of both men and women), and followed Gaga through the BTW campaign, I began to accept these things I once thought of as flaws.

It must be really hard for Gaga to accept her insecurities, even if she knows/believes deep down that she is truly fine the way she is. Some people, even many fans here, are so quick to type "mess" or "why she lookin like a man" when an unflattering picture of her is posted. I can see why she mostly only hangs around lm.com now where she can focus on positivity, even if it is an artificial environment.

I mean, I would be a little bit disappointed because she is naturally so beautiful and I wouldn't want her to change anything. And I hope she would see this beauty without feeling the need to have a surgery.

But at the end of the day, it only matters if she is confident and comfortable with herself and if she feels a surgery would make her feel better than who am I to judge?

There's sometimes a bit of a misunderstanding when it comes to the BTW message. It is mainly about going through multiple rebirths in order to become the person you want to be, and not what other people want you to be. So if someone wants to undergo plastic surgery because it's a personal choice and need, then so be it. If a boy doesn't feel Ok in his skin and wants to become a girl, then let him become a girl. He was born this way.

BTW's message actually encourages change. The key is not to give a damn about others' opinions.

:tea:  :tea:  :tea:

Exactly. It's about embracing the person you were born to be, and the strength to do so.
