TheResidentZionist 128
But ARTPOP is not all about EDM or dance pop. She has a trap song Jewels N' Drugs, a Pop Rock/Trap song MANiCURE, two electronic ballads Dope and Gypsy, and DWUW was mostly R&B. And even her EDM songs don't sound like what everyone else has been releasing. When have you heard a song like Aura, MJH, Swine, and Venus on the radio for example? Ok buddy I dont mean to offend you but somthing tells me your not exactly familiar with the electro genre. I appreciate what your saying but if you use the term EDM you almost automatically dont know what your talking about. Trap music is NOT it's own genre. It is a subgenre of Electro derived from dub step. The conundrum of ARTPOP is that all the sounds and sonic pallete is derived from things we have all heard before but that are placed in strange configurations that make is fresh and unique. such as madeons synth line in Fashion! Sounds very much like Daft Punks digital love, but is handled and arranged differently than it was back then. I'm an Avid electro fan have been since the early 2000s, MANiCURE is simply a rock/punk song mixed with girl power pop. Makes me recall like patty smith mixed with the Rockettes ;-p Sorry for my Tangent I just get SUPER defensive when people think they know electro music and use the word EDM

Kermit the frog 1,921
Venus is the only thing that can save this
Mills 446
Likely. But that applies to any track on ARTPOP that would be released as the third single, regardless if it's Gypsy or Venus or any other track. While a decent hit might boost sales, I honestly don't see it as something that significant for a very notable turnaround. I mean a "turnaround" in the sense of making this album's sales move past 5 million worldwide by the end of its run. A release of an ACT 2 or an EP or a whole new album would always be more promising to me than relying to G.U.Y. or any of the tracks left on ARTPOP, if we're here for a realistic smash hit. MonsterMum 2,532
Well I kinda agree with him. Don't get me wrong Im excited what she's gonna bring visually for G.U.Y and will be stanning for it, but do I think it will do well chart/sales wise? naah not really but I'm not too bothered about that anyway
Phlop 4,773
Kinda agree with him, GUY is the weakest of the better single choices (Venus, Sexxx Dreams, Gypsy). And it's a weak feminist track, Scheisse was a LOT better and catchier. I just don't find it easy for straight males to sing, it screams bottom anthem. GagaMyBlood95 9,915
It's true that Gypsy is the best radio song on the album tho...
Oscar 1,031
Not sure if I still understand how ARTPOP isn't radio friendly...It's her most commercial album to date. But G.U.Y will smash regardless.
Laceface 2,964
He's right with Gypsy, but I think G.U.Y will do equally as well. I also wouldn't describe it as 'quirky' :toofloppy:
Paper Gangsta 6,693
He also thought ARTPOP and PRISM would both open with 400k+ copies Was he the one who said Uncle is sure #1 smash? Kinda agree with him, GUY is the weakest of the better single choices (Venus, Sexxx Dreams, Gypsy). And it's a weak feminist track, Scheisse was a LOT better and catchier. I just don't find it easy for straight males to sing, it screams bottom anthem. Straight can also be bottom with girl on top :)

DrewStevens 5,249
I think Gypsy could be a great single. But she needs to release the dance tracks first because the sound gets old every day. Gypsy is more pop and it could be released tomorrow or later.
Kayla 7,595
If he's saying it won't work because it's quirky, I think that's not correct. Instead of catering to what's popular, what can help Gaga is standing out again. (just my opinion) Put out a single that makes people go "That's different!" and makes them interested. Miky 9,491
Bad romance wasn't radio friendly either. /thread Too many people here with moral superiority complex.
llbcherry 591
who cares about his word This, truly. G.U.Y. is amazing. My fav all along. It has a real shot. Plus, I don't think ARTPOP needs "saved." The journey only just begins.
