HighWayUnicornR2L 2
It's definitely in her songwriting. She doesn't have to split the royalties with many because it's usually just her + her producers while her contempararies have entire teams of writers and sometimes aren't involved in the writing at all. And when they aren't involved in the songwriting they obviously won't get part of the songwriting royalties

Judas Oyster 1,914
She chooses quality rather than quantity. And does things differently. Like, a black perfume instead of doing the same every other pop artist do :P

Antidote 95
I think it has a lot to do with her writing all her songs. Every time there's a Rihanna song on the radio, the person who wrote it (or owns the rights) gets paid.....every time there's a Gaga song on the radio, Gaga gets paid. Just think about how much money George Michael gets every year around Christmas time because of Last Christmas being played on the radio :dead:

GypsyPrince 237
It's not about quantity, it's about quality. And Gaga realises that. She could've released tons of fragrances by now, but that ONE fragrance she's released so far has already destroyed the others. Plus her touring power >>>

Miel 15,009
As somebody has mentioned, I think she gets a bigger chunk because she contributes to the writing of the song. Also, she's been listed as producer since TFM, so maybe that's something? Also, as somebody has also mentioned, her touring gets a bunch of money. And FAME probably got her a lot, too, right? Even if she didn't get all (obviously- anybody know her share? hmm), overall that got a lot of money. She also says she doesn't spend a lot of money on herself. I mean, obviously fashion and stuff, but not cars or houses or whatever. She probably spends a lot on food, tho. 3 points in and ready for more

StrawberryBlond 14,628
She doesn't have a huge collection of songwriters and producers to pay as she does most of that herself. Her co-writers and producers are carefully selected and you don't get this nonsense with 9 people responsible for writing one song. Every time her songs get played, she gets paid, not a huge team of songwriters who did all the work for her. Rihanna's two most successful albums (GGGB and Loud) did not involve her in the writing or producing whatsoever, so even though she made millions with those albums, she likely has barely seen a penny of it. Gaga's tours are known to huge, spectacular and a cut above other pop shows, so she pulls in a lot more money than her contemporaries. Gaga has a great voice, always sings live, plays instruments and dances with a great team of backup dancers, an eccentric wardrobe and an impressive stage and overall set. Even if you're a casual fan, people want to go to her shows because they know she's the real deal and is worth paying money for. And most people won't laugh at you if you say you've seen her live - they're usually impressed. If you say that you've seen Katy Perry or Rihanna live, the reaction is more of pity as both of them are known for not being great live singers and Rihanna in particular is known for being mega late to shows and then acting bored and not even trying to be entertaining when she is there. I know a lot of people think that Gaga is the only popstar worth paying for to see live. Her focus on quality over quantity is key. She doesn't rush out an album every year like Rihanna, meaning the album has more time to sink in, have its moment and become iconic (plus, people can keep up with them). She doesn't release any more than 5 singles per album so that the public don't get flooded with so many songs in quick succession that will result in them being glanced over or loved at the time but then forgotten. A glance over her single discography on Wikipedia shows that sticking to a handful of singles per album means better charting and positions. Outwith the music, she only puts her name on something that she's truly proud of and doesn't do it often. Unlike Nicki Minaj, who's released countless low-quality perfumes that are selling peanuts and fronting clothing lines at discount stores, Gaga only produces ranges of things that she puts her heart and soul into and only accepts the best. This leads to her brand being treated with respect and makes more people think it's worth buying.
elsongalang 8
Her influence as LADY GAGA is already a business mark. Whatever that product is- album, perfume, tour, etc.- will speak about LADY GAGA and LADY GAGA herself. It's like even if you do not like gold, but the fact that it is gold, it is something that you would want to have. And just like her tours, it is like seeing a live moving singing gold, even if you do not want to see gold.
