windzo 714
UGHHHHH i cant believe this  Can you imagine if applause was nominated for the grammys then she might of been able to do this performance anyway for applause
Omegahedron 163
I fail to understand why Miley's performance would have prevented Gaga preforming this one?? Am I missing something? :( Fill me in!!
YSL 2,429
omg this is so sad! :emo: Imagine how the whole era would have changed... The performance was supposed to be the beginning of the era and it would have showed the real art (while playing pop music). That's what supposed to be ARTPOP! I really understand Gaga now and we must support her!
EnigmaGypsyBoy 2
If you look up the artist "Ron Athey" I think you'll understand a little bit better why the original idea was denied. While I do feel horrible for gaga having to be forced to change her vision. I can see why mtv denied seeing as the vmas demographic audience is a lot of younger kids, they would much rather have raunchy (miley) than disturbing (the torture figure). This idea though I think would make a great amas or grammy performance. Hopefully one day we see this idea come to life.

I googled him ...... his **** is really EXTREME .. but okay, maybe his part wasn't appropiate, why could't let her keep the other parts ? that's the question and reason for everyone's disappointment
Slayer 9,227
This is why Gaga needs her creativity reining in sometimes. The Applause performance might not have been "iconic", but it was fun, cute and happy, which is exactly what suits the song. It's not a dark, low-tempo song, so why would a performance involving torture and Gaga walking about a lot be a good idea? No wonder MTV rejected it. And before anyone says "but it's not fair on Gaga," to that I say tough sh!t. I work in a creative business and I get my ideas ripped apart daily and people completely rewriting my work, because that's what it takes to create good entertainment. Creativity needs to be filtered. And if Gaga thinks she's above that, then that's really disappointing. If she wanted to do something without a filter, she should have been an indie artist and not a pop star.

So they can filter an entire performance for a few measley grizzly scenes(it's not blood and gore ffs), but they didn't think Miley twerking on Robin Thicke might have needed filtering? Sure. It's none of MTV's business what suits the song or not, that's up to Gaga

Yeah, someone should have told Madonna that when she was making something as iconic as the s-x book, which at that time was pretty shocking(probably more than this Gaga performance would have been), if only someone(maybe her label) had filtered her too Edited January 27, 2014 by Fiendfyre
Raivo 118
This makes me feel so sad. I can imagine the dissapointments she has had in this era. We can't blame her any more. There just are some basterds, who are keeping her from expressing herself fully. ARTRAVE will SLAY. I hope the documentary will show and explain alot of these difficulties she had to overcome.
