if you'd listen to some other kanye-albums, you'd know that his thing is sampling old soul-songs,

And sampling is a big part of hip-hop.

I know that he samples all time. But I don't like it at all.

Kanye is very innovative musically, but his message? Too often the tired and overdone contrast (in hip hop) between boosting about being wealthy and powerful and whining about racism and how tough he has it. Nothing that whites haven't been hearing for decades, or that will make the white underclass feel any solidarity with him.

I agree with this. In the past it was like a trend but now it get's boring.

It's not that the message is any different, it's that now it's more mainstream. Sure, these messages have been in music for decades, but the point I was making is that the more closed-minded people who try to avoid it can't anymore because he's so mainstream.

I live in a town where there's still so much racism, and I don't think that it's whining. It's about ****ing time that something is done and although there isn't segregation, there's still intense discrimination. The minorities in my community have their own 'half' of the town and it's almost complete poverty. The people in my town avoid it. However, when watching SNL, they get reminders. That's the point I'm making, not that he's lyrically any different, but that the message is signal boosted 1000000x.

I do agree is anyone deserves to be called the Gaga of rap it is Kanye.

* intelligence and serious artistic purpose

* non-generic music, bending genre boundaries.

* having fans who generally don't like their genre

* willingness to be controversial

Most counter-arguments to that end of spotlighting general differences between pop and hip-hop.

Yes, Kanye uses words like n*ggers and b*tches, has an angry demeanor, boasts about his success, and unashamedly admits to being a dick. Not too different from most traditional rappers (thought dickish in a more interesting way than your usual gansta in the hood rapper).

In comparison, most pop stars are sweet and have a positive attitude, and want us to dance and enjoy life and love ourselves and not bully others. I'm thinking  especially dance-pop girls little influenced by urban music (Gaga, Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, Jessie J). When pop stars go "dark, it's usually about having a broken heart or a bad romance.

Black Skinheads my favorite

I kinda wish there were more tracks but it's good that it's short and concise.

Production reminds me of a death grips record lol

It kinda ties with MBDTF for me.
