Morphine Prince 104,948
I'm telling you, Chinny, everything is falling into place. Born This Way was her act as Lucifer falling from the grace of God. Born This Way = Lucifer, the general US (or world?) public = God. It's her going against the grain of oppression (no matter how well-intended the initial oppression was). And while the oppression itself was a sort of all-encompassing protection, she as Born This Way as Lucifer bit the hand that fed, only because the spoon-feeding became all too much (also a commentary on media [ahem decay of celebrity and/or psyche]). Of course it wasn't intended to be that way then, but she twisted it into her own sort of mythos in retrospect. If ARTPOP is about possibilities, or the Phoenix rising, then they both can be about the possibilities after falling from the grace of Puritanical totalitarianism. Or, in the Phoenix's case, the same as such, except in the POV of 'rising from it after being destroyed by it'. The death of the celebrity/decay of the blonde wasn't a core album theme, because it was a staged theme between albums, it was Gaga's fall of grace. She's no angel of pop, or princess of pop. Ever wonder why she proclaimed herself as the devil of pop? Because she sees herself as a representation of a Milton-esque Lucifer figure. Not that she is the Lucifer figure, but, quoting the BTWB, "I am you". The disenfranchised are the fallen figures, the ones fallen from the grace of God. And while they are looked down upon from the light and beams of heaven, or are still facing the regime of it, they have the benefit of the doubt; they have the benefit of possibilities, of rising from their own ashes in a perpetual reincarnation. Not in its initial intention, but in retrospect: The Fame - originally conceived as creating 'inner sense of Fame', now a chapter in her new story as the gaining access and acceptance into Heaven The Fame Monster - originally conceived as an introspection of the effects of Fame and of self+other-created fears, now a chapter in her story new as the fear and doubting of Heaven Born This Way - originally conceived as introspection (or relation) of self-discovery, rebirth, and worth, also subtly as a revolution-esque anthemic album, now a chapter in her new story as the rebellion and revolution against the regime of Heaven (as Lucifer, a figure stigmatized as evil but, in Milton's view, more of a fallen figure... SEE THE SIMILARITIES?) ARTPOP - the new story, both a retelling of previous stories, and a continuation of said retelling Key terms: "the devil of pop" "anything from Judas I s2g" "the betrayal theme from BTWB (between Bad Romance and Judas)" "Phoenix rising theme" "MTN video theme of retelling past events in a more artistic manner (going by the general theory that final video = clue to next era" important: this is all a pseudo-joke that started with a pseudo-joke discussion with Chinnicide about how Milton's Paradise Lost is a possible influence on ARTPOP. Yes, all of the above is incredibly reaching because it was, initially, a joke. HOWEVER, I'm starting to take myself seriously. I delusionally think I may be on to something. NOOOO! Now I can't not see this!
EnigmaMonstr 26
If this whole album revolves around Warhol & This is a Warhol quote At this point, based on what it's saying, everyone should have a boner. We should all probably just accept that this is the reason for our problems.
