I really hope that ARTPOP isn't too dirty... I need to hear it EVERYWHERE, and I want my family to love it, like they did with Pokerface, Bad Romance, and most of the Born This Way album. On a scale of 1 to 10, the dirty level needs to be a 6 maybe 7 tops.

so the quality of the music has nothing to do with it?

Um.. read my post again. That's kind of what my post contended. The Grammy's decide based on the music rather than the artist.

why should gaga sacrifice her art and decision to be as dirty as she wants to be so your family could love it?

i'm just going by his logic, since he says the grammy's are so important and prestiegious, then those artists deserved their awards more, right, just basing off that logic.

That makes no sense. I never made the connection between grammy's are so important and artists deserving their awards more. Im not understanding where you got this 'logic' from. Your putting words in my mouth.

True, I believe the Grammys are important and prestigious. It's every artists dream to win a Grammy. It's musics highest honour. They are still relevant and valid. That's what I said in response to posts denouncing the credibility of Grammys in todays world.

except the music they award and nominate isn't the best. it's a family friendly award show and would televised awards to artists people know or that makes "real music"

it represents more of pop culture and the music industry rather then the actual music, just like mtv and rolling stone.

This is your opinion though - the award itself is still musics most coveted.

I think the Grammys associate themselves with 'Popular Music' rather than music that's not very well known/less successful. It's always been the case. They can't consider all artists globally; there's too many.

but they don't recognize artists taking risks. case in point how animal collective's album was shunned in 2010 and phoenix only got an alternative category instead of album of the year.

or how janelle monae and big boi was snubbed over katy perry and eminem for album of the year.

kanye west was snubbed in that category despite having his first three albums nominated, and his most critically acclaimed album was replaced with rihanna, bruno mars, and yes, even lady gaga. bon iver too, who's album was a better body of work then bruno mars so why didn't it get album of the year as opposed to record/song categories instead?

mumford and sons won over frank ocean when channel orange was a much more groundbreaking release.

amy winehouse and kanye west were snubbed over joni mitchell's covers when no one's gonna remember that album, or how an alisson krauss album won over more important albums from radiohead, lil wayne, and coldplay.

they only nominate indie acts when they have some commercial success like a song on a commercial or reaching top 20 on the charts, but why couldn't they recognize those artists before that?

it just shows how out of touch they are.

Like I said - within the Entertainment Industry, all award shows are flawed. It's similar with film - the same types of film seem to be nominated every year. The same actors are given recognition. It's all flawed. Maybe the deciders of the Grammy awards opinions' differ to yours and mine. I wouldn't why one album was snubbed, and so and so.

Regardless of how out of touch they are to you, the awards are still relevant/prestigious.

they're relevant but only prestigious to people who won or don't know much about music outside of what was nominated that year.

I disagree. But each to their own.
