Hmm no. What are you even saying?  :laughga:

The Grammys don't award based on the artist - they award for an album or song (the work of the artist) etc. For example, you stated 'adele > gaga' - doesn't mean Adele's better than Gaga. It means the Grammys chose to award '21' over 'Born This Way'. The overall aim of award shows isn't to decide who the best is. It's to celebrate the work, and acknowledge the top achiever for the year.

so the quality of the music has nothing to do with it?

i'm just going by his logic, since he says the grammy's are so important and prestiegious, then those artists deserved their awards more, right, just basing off that logic.

she'll never win album of the year. they only give to to traditional sounding artists.

the grammy's were on justin's dick this year, so he'll definitely be in consideration.

Your first statement is very negative; also, 1984's Thriller, 1996's Jagged Little Pill, 1999's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, 2000's Supernatural, 2004's Speakerboxx/The Love Below, and 2011's The Suburbs really aren't "traditional sounding." As you can see, as we progress, more variety is included; I believe Gaga will win Album of the Year one of these days; she really should have won in 2011 for The Fame Monster, but that's an entirely different conversation. I do completely agree with you on your Justin comment... he'll snatch a few at the 2014 ceremony; and it is about certain he'll receive an Album of the Year nod. We shall see.

and that's why you and i was her only nominated song that year

That is what she & the team submitted for consideration; she didn't submit her other records for reasons unknown.

But that fact is also reflective of the music industry. I don't think it's a bad thing though; it's just the way it works.

The way I see it - If an artist wins a Grammy - their reputation as an artist becomes better. People take them more seriously. They are seen as 'superior' in a sense. 'Superior' is not really the right word to use but you get my point. I still the think the award itself is valid and relevant. I'm not saying it's perfect; all major awards in the Entertainment Industry are flawed. I'd love to see Gaga continue her Grammy run.

Exactly- same as an Academy Award. People are more apt to see "Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence" in Catching Fire because to the general public, an Oscar (or Grammy, Emmy, Tony) is a sign of excellence & achievement. You are exactly right with your "all major awards..." comment; everything is flawed. Money talks. However, I do believe that the academies do choose what they feel is the best of the year nine times out of ten. Thank God the general public doesn't vote on things like that otherwise "Call Me Maybe" could have seriously won Song of the Year this year. :eww:

...Why are you here?  :Mel:

:haha:

In my opinion the only reason Adele won so many grammys this past year, is because it was a huge Adele bandwagon thing to love and worship everything she does, even though most of it is just pretty good.  But that's just my opinion.  I just think the Grammys wanted to hop on the Adele train and ride it all the way to predictable city.  :nooo:

And if anything a Grammy nomination ought to be celebrated in & of itself; fifteen nominations in five years is an incredible achievement. I am proud to say one of my favorite artists has fifteen Grammy nominations.

this is what they do with all their winners. it's all about hype, sales, or how traditional sounding they sound because "music today sucks unless it sounds like the bands i grew up with"

they don't award innovation and they don't award artists taking risks. they just don't and they never will. it has to sound pop and watered down and sell millions of copies for them to award those type of artists.
