davidmonster 1,292
Wow guys just stop. Interscope are not going to make a controversial song like Judas a lead single. And BURQA can be a really nice song and can have 0% controversion in it so stop talking about it being a mistake before even listen to it . It may be a song about the women which are hiding behind burqa but are strong or something about that :) And BURQA isn't that relegious like Judas you know ? Burqa is more about specific nation than religion ! You're right I'm just worried, that's all :cryga:

Raikov 183
i hope gaga knows she's wearing a niqab and not a burqa. This. Also, although I love Gaga, I too am nervous about the content of a song called "Burqa." For some women, it's a symbol of oppression. For others, it's a symbol of freedom. It's not even something required by the Muslim religion, from my understanding of it. There are Muslim countries where wearing a burqa (or a niqab) is looked down upon! A burqa means many different things for different people, and I have a feeling Gaga is going to generalize it to mean something negative, which would be very culturally insensitive and ignorant. Ideally, I'd love for Burqa to be a feminist song about how you can be powerful while being covered up and choosing to wear burqas because you want to, but Westerners have an unfortunate tendency to think "burqa/any type of body covering not done in Western culture = oppressing women," when it is NOT necessarily like that. I'd soooo love it, and it might be possible, knowing that she's using the burqa as a fashion piece. tl;dr: Gaga better not mess up Burqa with ignorant generalizations. Yeah, The content of the song probably wont be nagative, because if it was she wouldnt be wearing a niqab or a burqa. I get the feeling it will be more on the fashion side of things. As fashion will fit the theme of ARTPOP. Also when she wore the pink burqa she wore it at the Philip Treacy fashion show. Then after the show she wore the niqab with the fur tails hanging around her. Hexxx 2,244
i don't think Burqa is going to be that much of contraversy. maybe the title, but not the song. Lady Gaga/ Madonna/Lana /Azealia Banks/ Jazmine Sullivan/ DEEE-LITE/ Moko

But look at Judas, the songs lyrics wasn't controversial minus the 'in the most biblical sense' bridge
