Why does everyone complain about "generic" lyrics? Like who cares!? You're still gonna stan for Gaga no matter what and all of her music is amazing so who cares about generic lyrics. Just enjoy the damn music… Telephone was a number 1 hit and is a great song. Stop making it as if Gaga is above anyone and everyone else. She makes popular music. Just enjoy it.

but it was!! that was the whole point. it started as a song for ARTPOP initially, then became a collab, then got pulled from kendricks album, and will most likely be on ARTPOP after all as intended.

How do you know that Partynauseous was meant for ARTPOP? How could you possibly know that?

because she was writing it for herself at first. shes been, and still is, writing music for ARTPOP since last summer, anything she writes in that period is intended for the album and the fact that it saw the light of day in terms of prodution, and a song title, and mentioning it a few times, means that it is intended for ARTPOP. just because she is venturing off into other territory that scares you, doesn't mean its not the "true" ARTPOP. whatever she goes with in the end has been the real ARTPOP the whole time, it just took a while to manifest itself.

"I'm gonna marry the night, leave nothing on these streets to explode"

Read the lyrics book. It is explode once. :gaga:

Guys leave it to Gaga herself to decide what she wants and doesn't want on the album, she's the grammy winner/3xPlatinum/the one actually making the music for a living, I'm pretty sure she knows best :nails: You might want partynauseous or not, but its all up to gaga

I kind of don't want it just because I can't spell it :derpga:

Telephone actually wasn't a number 1 hit. If so, Gaga would have 4 #1's, she has 3.

Telephone peaked at #3.

And many fans care about Gaga's artistry. We're fans, we should care. And if Gaga comes out with lyrics like "I'm in the club dancing like there's no tomorrow-oh-oh-oh", I'll definitely lose respect. That's cheap.

And no imo Telephone is her worst single, therefore I think it is not a great song, but that's all subjective.

Sorry for caring more about quality than hits

I understand that, and I agree that Telephone is probably her most generic single and my least favourite.

Gaga is a pop artist though  she wants to make an impact on pop-culture and to do that she needs to make popular music.

Gaga obviously still takes risks and makes quality songs, but if she drops a safe single every now and again to make sure the GP won't get alienated then that is fine with me. She can't take risks all the time.

The way she treated Telephone was amazing though :legend:. The music video is my favourite video and the performance at the BRIT awards was so avant-guarde and my favourite performance. She made up for the generic pop single by making it something more with her performances.

I wouldn't mind if she has commercial songs like that on ARTPOP as long as she still has epic, risky songs that sound ahead of its time. As long as she creates art from the pop song (:derpga:) like she did with Telephone I don't mind.

TBH I expect that Red Flame (The song she did about shoes with Azealia Banks) will be a rather safe and generic song. It is about shoes, enough said. That is a chart hungry song, a generic song with a collab with an urban artist for crossover appeal. Nothing wrong with that.

I think Telephone is underrated. Yes it has all the makings of a generic dance/pop hit. But its the little touches that make it unique. Her layering of different vocals and the use of the voice mail/dial tone at the end of the track. Its Gaga doing pop fluff and she did it really really well! It peaked at number 3 on the hot 100 but it went to number one on the dance charts and the pop charts.

Simplicity can often times be more powerful than constantly attempting to be substantial. I mean Madonna's first two albums are pop fluff and they're some of her best work.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssss at people saying Telephone is underrated

Its muh fave off the album :cryga:

I agree with people saying the pop fluff can be an artist's greatest work, especially when your a pop star. I hope ARTPOP doesn't have a deep meaning :ohno: Just as long as it's not too lovey dovey about Taylor :eww: (the s-x songs would be amazing, but not love songs) :derpga:

Music aside, Gaga's more than capable of writing better lyrics than Telephone. :wtf: Pop fluff does not have to mean zero lyrical sophistication and color- though the two overwhelmingly correlate in today's Top 40. I'm just getting nervous watching Gaga tweet about oolong and ratchet and cannabis and high/die princesses. Please don't go all Natalia Kills on us with this corniness. :ohno:
