That's true she did reference him a lot during TF era.. but I'm more interested because of how mature she is now & she may interpret it differently. I think we got a glimpse of her referencing Warhol but in a more mature way than ever before during the Fame ragrance launch. The whole "everyone will be famous for 15 minutes" was excellently referenced by her being watched by everyone for 15 minutes while she did something as mundane as sleeping! I mean it sort of is, but people are already starting up with it. And I personally would be upset if she didn't use it some. I don't even care if it's on a non-single song I just wanna see what she could do with it. To the world - it's a symbol of culture; but it's now also a symbol of conflict and misunderstanding. Because it ties in with religion as well - a song by GAGA about it is going to warrant lots of controversy even before it's actually released. I know there's nothing offensive with using the word burqa or even releasing a song about it. So long as the song respects the culture and doesn't convey an offensive message. The world/media/ignorant people don't understand that though. That, plus Gaga. She has a lot of haters because she's so full on/different. People can't handle her. She could wave at her fans and some people would have an issue with it. We'll wait and see. Im excited. Tbh.. why would you write a song about a burqa though? It's so random. why would anyone respect muslim culture tho, or any religiously driven culture for that matter. its awful. the offensiveness of her message would be nothing but highlighting their ignorance and hatred towards a lot of disenfranchised minorities in their culture. I agree to an extent. But 'hate/disrespect' goes against everything I stand for. But then again - they don't seem to respect my beliefs/culture and hate a lot of groups I support. So I do see what you mean. I think instead of provoking more outrage from that group of people - Gaga could maybe try to make peace, not war. It's frustrating to know that the muslim population, as well as being in conflict with majority of the world, is also in conflict - you could even go as far to say they are at war - within their own population/against each other. I've gone a little off-topic but it all ties back to this rumoured 'Burqa' song. I just don't want her causing a riot with the muslims. She was upset she wasn't allowed into their countries - of course I could totally be misunderstanding everything! I know she's not stupid. ARTPOP is going to be interesting. That's something that cannot be denied. If Gaga is making a song referencing their mistreatment of women or the rest of the world then so be it. Tbh these people are focused on death from the start of their lives. They live their lives by a very hateful book. I don't know if any of you have ever read the Quran, but in a nutshell... if you do anything then you deserve to die in a hideous way and if you enforce that punishment then you will die and get s-x. One of my friends at work happens to be a Muslim but her parents are very devout. She doesn't want to, and she's 23, but has to be completely covered head to toe at all times. It's very depressing for her. She feels restricted and repressed almost like her life is a hindrance to superiors born with testicles. Believe what you want to believe. I happen to believe the truth and facts. But there's no reason your beliefs should be enforced on anyone else in the way that religious groups do. I believe lack of uproar comes from fear of racism, which is silly. How is it different to preventing religious leaders abusing children? How is it different to religious groups against homos-xuality? We wouldn't stand for an atheist treating anybody this way. Perhaps if Joseph fritzel had claimed he were a religious practitioner then he would have been able to continue his torrent of torment. My point here is that if people are going to get offended at a song named "Burqa" then maybe first they should ask why they are offended. Do you support female repression, abuse and mistreatment? Are women just items to control and claim ownership over? Furthermore, would you feel safe on a train or plane filled with people wearing burqas? No. It needs to be addressed in a big way. It is a serious problem in the world and even if it doesn't affect you, that doesn't make it any less of an issue. The only person with big enough balls to tackle the issue has come to the forefront.
