And today's tweets about Azealia Banks and Kylie Minogue kind of strengthen that theory. Elton John, Cher, Chris Martin, Azealia Banks, Kylie Minogue, Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar......... But you are right, I guess the way it was explained to me (in second grade) as it being a vowel sometimes was just an easier way to explain it to us.
