Certifications =/= actual sales. RIAA has included stream equivalents into their certification programs, hence KP has shot up to 72M (Firework alone was certified for 9x platinum even though its sales has yet to cross 7 million). And they're not updated for everyone (e.g. Gaga).

ohhh that makes sense but why would T Swift still be lower on RIAA than what is posted here if streams are included?

Added more with my post. The certifications of RIAA aren't real-time. They depend on the applications of the labels. If a label's not keen in updating all their certifications, they won't be updated as fast as the ones who are keen in updating them. That's the flaw of RIAA's certification process. They could really be deceiving.

And not just because of that. Their certifications, especially for albums, are mostly based on shipments and not the actual sales (again we've to keep in mind that it's the label providing them with info). An album could be certified as platinum even if they've yet to cross the 1M mark from SoundScan's tracking.

Scott Borchetta, CEO of Big Machine revealed the real numbers from Spotify. Swift's record label provided new figures to defend themselves in the battle over profits from the streaming music service.

"Taylor Swift has been paid less than $500,000 in the past 12 months for domestic streaming of her songs", Scott Borchetta, the CEO of Taylor Swift’s record label, the independent Nashville-based Big Machine, told TIME Wednesday.

According to Borchetta, the actual amount his label has received in return for domestic streams of Swift’s musicâ€â€$496,044â€â€is drastically smaller than the amount Spotify has suggested the artist receives.  Borchetta said his label had made more from streaming Taylor Swift’s videos on the video site Vevo than it has from putting her music on Spotify.

For Nicki, She'l be predicted 180-200K but I reckon after the shock of that, a last minute rush she'l end up selling about 220-225K

but then again, it is a rap album... sometimes rap albums can surprise

She won't come anywhere near 300K, i'd say the best she could hope for is 260K.

Do  you guys think is possible that Taylor is topping, once again, the BB Hot100 with 1989( even though 1D's new album release) because of the new way BB counts sales( streaming + single's sales) ??

Aloe Blacc: Streaming Services Need to Pay Songwriters Fairly

http://www.wired.com/2014/11/aloe-blacc-pay-songwriters/

"In return for co-writing a major hit song, I’ve earned less than $4,000 domestically from the largest digital music service."

"Updating the nation’s antiquated music licensing system will better serve the needs of not only music creators, like me, but businesses that use our music, consumers and the global marketplace for music. But the digital music services that see a financial advantage in maintaining the status quo are fighting hard to obstruct any meaningful reform.

I, for one, can no longer stand on the sidelines and watch as the vast majority of songwriters are left out in the cold, while streaming company executives build their fortunes in stock options and bonuses on the back of our hard work. Songwriting is truly a labor of love, one that often does not result in wealth. But I know the work we create has real value. And I believe policymakers will one day recognize that a system that allows digital streaming services to enjoy enormous profits while music creators struggle is imbalanced and broken."

4k for a co-writer is a **** ton more than 100 for the main artist :flop:
