itaita 0
I believe her, but mostly because Japanese GGD'ers are a rare species It does make sense to me, and I hope they delay the video as longas they want to. This era is very important for the rest of he ra and ou simply can't go all controversial/risky unless it's the last single for a pop album n my opnion. Oh god imagine if Venus was the 2nd single. Japanese member, do you know anything about the Venus/Dwuw 2nd single case? hey hon, just popped in to see a storm of posts, yikes! Tempted to just delete my OP :-/ I didn't mean to create any controversy and I hope my OP wasn't out of bounds. I think everyone knows about that one, the 2nd single event, that was pretty obvious? DWUW seemed to really take off and so there was an instant decision made to push it forward. Venus is the first song produced by LG, so it's her baby, of course she would want it to be the single. The label, though...maybe not so enthused. IMO only it's not the greatest song, no, but it IS more interesting than DWYW. It could have made room for more interesting visuals, performances etc. That said, major label records still live or die by radio. Venus is NOT a staple pop radio hit. That is not a slight. That is just a fact. That would have made the label uneasy to begin with, and so they jumped on the DWYW bandwagon pronto. I think in other circumstances, Venus DOES make for a more interesting approach, and not to carp on the subject, but it's a song that could have even crossed over to the kids, you know? The whole planet thing, Venus imagery etc. To address a couple of other things: there is maybe one degree of separation between myself and the insider circle, so no, I am not The Insider Gold, so to speak, and I don't think I ever claimed to be? But I am probably a bit closer to the source than some of you, although it's not such a big deal. Truly, what I posted could be construed as a collection of what many people have posted before - I am not claiming otherwise. I have come here before mainly for research. Because I am in the biz, I am always curious to see how artists's choices affect their fan base etc, plus this thread is more up to date on charts than HDD hahaha. I also posted here, and not on main Thoughts thread because most of you are relatively even headed;) and the main thread can get a bit.... well.... insane. Stefani328 321
Your point is just close-minded. Dr. Luke is very talented. The fact that the popstars have abused of his work is other issue. He's produced great songs such as K.Clarkson's Since You've Been Gone, Pink's Who Knew, Jessie J's Price Tag, and the list goes on... What about will.i.am? I don't like at all the music he produces, however, I do think Fashion! is very catchy and funny. No one said you had to agree with my OPINION

Yes Gaga was holding onto Venus too long for my taste, it has too many changes for it to be a radio smash in my opinion. Not suitable at least as a 2nd single release. DWUW is a safer bet for Interscope but then again why agree to work with R Kelly? As far as Im concerned I think Gypsy will be more appealing to the GP, at least what the charts show and since it has a bit of an old school Eurovision melody and build up it will be a success in the Nordic countries and perhaps even in eastern Europe+Germanic countries. That TOONIIGGHHHTT thing is just too catchy

Arturo 40,746
That small promo in AUS/NZ with the Muppets Special did a good amount. If she actually went to Aus, that'd be great.

You are correct. Gypsy is the best bet now IMO. It plays on piano nicely, and is personal while also being relatable. It would be a good single for the new year, too, because it is hopeful and sort of evokes.....journeys, open spaces, possibilities etc... plus it has some catchy parts. Its something to sing in cars;) So it may all work out yet:) I hate that remix anyways As far as remixes go, sorry, this one is just plain horrible. There is ZERO art to it, just a rapper tagged on to bits of the song without any rhyme or reason. She deserves better. Even though I am not in love with DWYW, the SONG deserves better. Ugh. itaita 0
That small promo in AUS/NZ with the Muppets Special did a good amount. If she actually went to Aus, that'd be great. You have to understand: promo costs $$$$. Going places with an entourage, setting things up, besides other costs. It REALLY adds up. LG travels in style AND shoots with her own crew these days. It's VERY expensive. And the money coming in right now is not crazy amazing. The pie is getting smaller and smaller. That could also be the reason behind less heavy touring promo. Mason 209
I'm sorry, that Rick Ross "remix" isn't even worth buying, all it is is Rick Ross rapping and then the song starts as normal and nothing has changed. I would have preferred if they removed R Kelly entirely and replaced him with Rick Ross. It would have made more sense to me and I would have bought it. I was looking forward to hearing a different version and it was the same thing lol.
Arturo 40,746
A part of me kind of wants to move on to Gypsy now but I still wanna see how radio holds on to DWUW. I can't at KIIS just going back to Applause on PR and taking DWUW off before Wednesday. Like, is that even legal...? If radio becomes ****ty, then might as well move onto Gypsy :p Also, I have this horrible feeling that the Grammys aren't happening for Gaga
