That's the rule, and Grammys often contradict with it.  That's not my fault :emo:

Well not a lot of people but really frequantly there are people that perform and are ot nominated ..

There isn't a set rule, but there is an unspoken rule. Grammys do not "often" or even "frequently" invite artists to perform who are not nominated. They RARELY do. The exceptions to this unspoken rule would be for legends of music in different genres, who have usually won multiple past Grammy Awards.

 

Gaga isn't at the (old) legend status yet and she wasn't nominated in any category. They didn't invite her to perform. It would have looked desperate for an artist of her standing to just show up to sit in the audience and watch the show.
