Nagini 179
That was such a ploy from Xtina's label for the song to be performed. I mean, I'm not bashing them because that was smart. It's just I prefer for it not to be successful that's rude and insulting/borderline flamebait. please give yourself 10 warning points!

Mariano 958
omg relax Hot 100 is supposed to reflect a song's popularity. If a video goes viral with a song, it's debatable whether the video is popular because of the song or the content. Lets say there's a video of an adorable cat that goes viral this week getting millions of views. Lets say the video just happens to have Your Body playing in the background, even though it has nothing to do with the content of the video. As a result, Your Body goes #1 on the Hot 100. Does that accurately reflect the song's popularity? Commercials are not the same because people still decide whether they want to buy the song or not. omg relax Hot 100 is supposed to reflect a song's popularity. It became his most viewed video In 1 week and It's all because of the song being the latest viral hit and not the other way around You realize that Wrecking ball Is the biggest viral phenomenon since Harlem SHake .. You want to tell me that people did not watch harlem shake videos because of the song ? And you want to tell me that people did not watch Gangnam Style videos because of the song ? Anyway sorry for my meltdown yesterday How Is DWUW doing ? MTN 2.0 Is Coming I guess

I was speaking about the streaming rule in general. I agree that the chat roulette video was popular because of Wrecking Ball, but there have been cases where the streaming rule gave songs new peaks because of videos that had nothing to do with the actual song. The most recent example is Beyonce's Get Me Bodied which got a new peak on the Hot 100 because of some video of doctors dancing to it. You could replace Get Me Bodied with literally any uptempo here and it would still have the same effect. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPdheFjRm4E Harlem Shake wasn't popular because of the song. It was popular because of those 30 second clips. The song hardly had any airplay and fell out of the top 40 on iTunes almost as fast as it rose. Yet it was able to top the Hot 100 for 5 weeks based on streaming alone. That's why I think the streaming rule needs to be re-evaluated and only include certain types of videos. Not all viral videos are necessarily about the song.

It's a fact that there are only a few songs that smashed because of them being Viral and these are Harlem Shake, WB, and Gangnam Style (I am talkin about recent months only ... ) and they are definitely not the only 3 viral videos the last year ... Which means that the rule Is working fine ... I can also agree about Harlem Shake, I wasn't keen on It being number 1, but the song Is what made people start making these videos In the first place .. bumblebee 2,528
This is why I love the UK charts so much: they are just based on sales and the competition is always very clear. There're some problems surely with the singles chart based on sales, most notable is that some promo singles or random singles like Justin Bieber once would chart extremely high, but I love the idea. With the Billboard chart rules, I have an idea that radio and streaming are here to add the entertainment element to the charts, to make them more fancy, competitive and unpredictable. From all the elements, only digital sales seem to be reasonable enough, as the idea of someone paying to download the song represents the loyalty to the song (it doesn't take lots of money), esp. in the age of internet piracy. Radio has some disadvantages, like the DJs/radio directors control over what is going to be played, and the idea that a song needs to fit special requirements in order to be successful on the radio. The main disadvantage of streaming is the fact that with viral videos huge share of views and streaming may come from the artist fanbase, which doesn't by any means establish the popularity of the song. Marry the night opened with great number of views in the first week which with the current chart rules would have pushed her to the top 10 definitely. Another thing is that many views come from same people who re-watch the video several times, and that also doesn't contribute to the popularity really much. From all the three elements of the chart streaming is the most controversial as of now. Why don't they decide to count how many times the music video for the song is played on music TV channels
