Are some ppl deaf or what? Saying that it would flop hard as a lead single makes no sense since it's much more interesting than Applause. And catchier, imo at least. It is obvious that Applause, Venus and Sexxx Dreams were the possible leads from the beginning though. Im pretty sure Venus didn't even exist until after VMAs. I think it was supposed to be the lead single back in 2012 ("We Could Belong Together ARTPOo" post on LM.com, ARTPOP played in car, 'lead single will make you pee your pants', "A hybrid can withstand these things" post on LM.com). Back in 2012 the lead-single was supposed to make us pee our pants while hearing it and, according to DJWS, it was produced by a female. Sexxx Dreams surely isn't the type of song that makes you pee your pants, nor is Applause. Venus is said to be one of the latest songs that were recorded for the album.
