This is strategy How on earth are Itunes banners PROMO ? Do you even know what promo means ? SNL is promo, Appearences and Performances on TV are PROMO ... Of course she did not sell this on her name alone and It was a smart strategy but FACT is that Gaga did a lot of promo for ARTPOP and Katy did even 10 times more promo for PRISM and BEYONCE is outselling them with 0 promo.. Every single album by a famous artist gets Itunes banners .. just because they were smarter than the other floppy teams/labels is another thing .. Anything that exposes your work to the public IS promo. So yes, banners shown to millions and millions of people everyday ARE promo. And these people are not the normal GP, they're people who will BUY music if they like it, not illegally download it like most of the GP does.
