And not you saying that Gaga's 2 best selling singles and her best selling album were all about Imagery ... You just sound like typical Gaga hater saying she sells music because of her outfits .. can't deny that when she was hot and everybody was interested in what would she use or do next that helped SALES A LOT, just see Miley for example, not nearly as big as gaga was but same formula, not saying the music wasn't good but it would have beeen a bit harder to sell what she sold on just typical pop performances and pretty looking girl(and gaga is not the s-xiest person alive btw, i think rihanna and others have an easier to diggest look) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Song ok it's silly already It's not performance literally Performance means that she got into the studio and recorded amazing vocals on a POP song .. :D The fact that you say you are objective but you can't overlook Gaga's success and see the truth. I never told that Gaga's music wasn't innovative and Just dance isn't all The Fame era. Gaga WAS more about image then and she has evolved a lot since then. Gaga brough a different kind of dance music back again then and she gave another weight to performance art, noone could compete with her, she wrote music history. Still TF remains a generic Pop album and still most of Gaga's The Fame music is a lot behind her other Era's music. It seems that you are the one judging by success and not me... Pink Floyd's most successful album was their debut The Dark Side Of The Moon and but it weak compared to The Wall eventhough the second one has sold a lot less. MJ's thriller was his best selling album and the best selling album of all time but it isn't his best album, in fact I find it to be one of his weakest... How am I judging success ? You want to tell me that when Gaga wasn't famous at all and sold so much and changed POP music from R&B Influenced to Dance Influenced (together with BEP and some others) she sold because of her Imagery ? You realize that Just Dance needed months and months to even get played on the radio ? Miley wasn't an unknown when she did that. In fact her being a Disney star is a huge part of the controversy. I would have to agree that Gaga's image had a massive effect on her sales in the beginning. Only really TFM is really considered an amazing pop album by critics and non gaga fans. You realize that Just Dance needed months and months to even get played on the radio ? its different because miley already had a STAR name, even if everyone had kind of forgotten about her people knew who she was, so making an impact is way easiar, there's a lot of bizarre interest for the lil' child star that went crazy on a video and started flashing her ass, besides i think both We Can't Stop and Wrecking Ball are nice and cute pop hits, the 1st is a FUN song that sounds like a rihanna reject but FUN none the less and the other is a "KellyClarkson-esque" song that is cutely acompanied by a viral video and the idea that she dedicated that to her ex gaga was a NOBODY when she released JD, so ALL artists need to go through those initial months of struggle, and if you realize JD climbed on its own because it was a fresh combination of Dance and Pop, then after Poker Face is when the gimmicks started to mantain the attention, i gotta say that lasted much more than Miley's, mainly because gaga was more entretaining live, she was the worldwide phenomenon, and that attention lasted through lil' after the BTW release nobody is saying that gaga became successful on gimmicks only but everybody needs to keep it real and admit that it was a big part of the success she had in her first 3 years Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

And yes to end the conversation, I said again that Gaga did change Pop music, she brought dance back to the light after R & B was dying, she IS one of the best Pop singers ever and I find her in MJ - Madonna league but this doesn't mean that the dance music Gaga brought back wasn't generic at the begining. Pokerface isn't as generic as just dance and even if it has a lot of commercial and generic elements it's a very innovative song and a Pop anthem, it was meant to be huge no matter what. TF has also some songs that reflect Gaga's future evolution like Paparazzi. The fact that Gaga was always a step above everyone else made us think that everything she did was neveer generic but the truth is that Gaga HAD to do generic music to make the music she does today. I don't blame The Fame for being generic because it had to be generic since it was the first Gaga album adn the first album of this new music Gaga brought in the music scene back from the dead. Stil TF is a debut album and like all debut albums it's extremely overrated because of it's success and it's freshness. The only successful debut album I have ever listened that isn't overrated and it's almost perfect is Evanescence's Fallen. It has a maturity and a perfection that they couldn't even match with their following albums eventhough they had much more experience and knowledge...
